It’s a Jungle Out There Book Fair

This year we are using a new Christian book fair retailer I:55 and our gracious librarian, Mrs. Maggie Kim, has offered to open the book fair on Sunday, November 24, to all parishioners and families from 11-12:30pm in-between Masses at Assumption.  We want to open this up to all our Whatcom family parishes too.  Other days/times of the book fair will be Wednesday, 11/20- Thursday, 11/21- Friday, 11/22 and Monday, 11/25 from 8-7pm. We’d love to see you here. If you would like to shop online to support our school, go to the link above and click SHOP.  Code is WA027 at checkout.  Thank you.

After School Pick-Up Procedures

We love your children and their safety while in our care is our utmost priority. As such, we find it necessary to remind parents of our pick-up procedures. We understand that families have busy schedules and commitments, but safety must always come first. Therefore, all teachers will be diligently enforcing the following guidelines:

  • All students must be collected from their designated alphabetical sign—without exception. This procedure ensures that the teachers at each sign can accurately account for the students under their care. If you opt to bypass the traffic loop, please ensure you walk in to retrieve your child from their sign.
  • The parking lot operates in a ONE-WAY direction for drop-off and pick-up: enter from Virginia St. and exit onto Kentucky St. (remind grandparents and relatives if picking up students too)
  • Bikers and walkers must have permission on file with the office to leave campus after school. This policy aims to ensure that children are walking home or to other after-school care, and not to an alternative pick-up location.
  • Release of students to another adult (directly from the Family Handbook): If anyone other than a parent or guardian is sent to pick up students, Assumption Catholic School requires either written permission signed by the parents (email acceptable), or a phone call from the parents to the school office informing the school of the change. Students will not be released to anyone they do not recognize nor to anyone not on the emergency form. Assumption Catholic School will check identification of anyone who is not the child’s parent and who is picking up a child from school.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in adhering to these procedures essential for the safety of your children!

Uniform Reminders

This year has been a little confusing with the roll out of swag and having casual uniform Wednesdays, so we want to provide a couple of reminders re: what items are considered “uniform”.

  • For Middle Schoolers (6-8): Eagle Athletic hoodies (purchased through Dennis or Lands’ End uniforms) and red sport team hoodies may be worn as part of their uniform on all regular and casual uniform days. For K-5, students may wear the ¾ zip sweatshirts on regular uniform days.
  • For ALL students- Any shirt adorned with our school logo may be worn on casual uniform Wednesdays. This includes the pictured swag items, Fun Run and Holy Hoops tees, Academic Decathlon and archery shirts, etc.
  • Swag items may NOT be worn by any student indoors on regular or dress uniform days.

We hope this helps with your family’s attire choices on these cold mornings to come! As always, check with theoffice@assumption.school or your child’s teacher if you are unsure. Thank you for supporting our policies!

Sweaters, Sweatshirts, and Coats… oh my!

Our Lost & Found is STILL brimming with uniform sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, and even socks! Please come have a look to find your child’s missing things. Our collection is located in the hallway on the first floor, between the kindergarten and first grade classrooms. Thank you for claiming your family’s items!

Accreditation Update 2024

Dear Families,

We need your help to ensure our school’s continued success and growth! As part of our accreditation process this year, we’re asking all parents to complete a brief survey. Your feedback is invaluable, and your responses play a key role in helping us maintain high standards and provide the best possible educational experience for our students.

Please take a few moments to fill out the survey – every response counts and will make a difference for our school community.

Thank you so much for your time and support!

Mass Friday, November 22nd

This Friday, our 3rd grade class is leading parts of the Mass. All are invited to attend Mass at 10:30am.

Our altar servers are Maggie Harbick, David Patelli, and Elodie Wolf!  Please remind them come to the church by 10:15am or earlier.  Thank you.

Saint of the Week Question:

Answer to last week: Pope St. Leo the Great. This saint is a Doctor of the Church and remembered for his theological writings on the true divinity and the true humanity of Jesus Christ.  He also saved Italy and Europe from Attila the Hun by persuading him not to attack.  He was pope for 21 years in the 400’s.

Giuliana Peralta is the winner this week and can come to spin the wheel for a prize!

New Question: She was the Queen consort of Scotland from 1070-1093 and the mother of 3 kings! She had an authentic and deep faith which led her to feed orphans daily and she would wash the feet of the poor in imitation of Christ. She and her husband, King Malcolm lived a virtuous life and encouraged others to do the same.

She became the patron saint of Scotland.

**Please submit your answer by the office near the Disciple bulletin board.
