Assumption School Grandparent’s Day and Book Fair

We are celebrating our grandparents/friends on November 22, Friday at 10:30am.  Families and parishioners are most welcome to join us. Information went home today in your Wednesday envelopes about the Book Fair.

And this year we are using a new Christian book fair retailer I:55 instead of the regular Scholastic company. And our gracious librarian, Mrs. Maggie Kim, has offered to open the book fair on Sunday, November 24, to all parishioners from 11-12:30pm in-between Masses at Assumption.  We want to open this up to all our Whatcom family parishes too.  Other days/times of the book fair will be Wednesday, 11/20- Thursday, 11/21- Friday, 11/22 and Monday, 11/25 from 8-7pm. We’d love to see you here. If you would like to shop online to support our school, go to the link above and click SHOP.  Code is WA027 at checkout.  Thank you.

Vocations Week Wrap Up

We’re grateful to Northwest Catholic Magazine for joining us to interview students and participate in the sessions, with plans to highlight Assumption Catholic School’s dedication to Vocations Awareness Week. A special thanks to Miss Copeland, our 5th-grade teacher, for organizing this impactful event and bringing the call of vocations to our students.

Here is the article online about our school and vocations week around the Archdiocese of Seattle. Article link Here!

Sweaters, Sweatshirts, and Coats… oh my!

Our Lost & Found is brimming with uniform sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, and even socks! Please come have a look to find your child’s missing things. Our collection is located in the hallway on the first floor, between the kindergarten and first grade classrooms. Thank you for claiming your family’s items!

Health Notice

We have been informed by the health department that our county is experiencing a higher than usual number of cases of Pertussis (aka whooping cough) infections. The immunity from Pertussis vaccine only lasts 1-3 years typically, and the symptoms can be difficult to differentiate from a viral upper respiratory infection in the first few weeks.

We want to remind you of some core strategies to prevent the spread of illness:

  • Stay home when sick
  • Children should remain at home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours.
  • If your child exhibits shortness of breath, an uncontrolled Cough OR one lasting longer than 2 weeks, seek medical care right away.
  • Wash hands often and keep high touch surfaces clean.

We will notify families about confirmed cases of Pertussis in a class via letter regarding close exposures. As always, please don’t hesitate to email attendance@assumption.school if you have any questions or are in doubt about your child’s school readiness.

We pray for your family’s continued good health and the speedy recovery of those who are ill. Thank you!

ACS Accreditation Update 2024

Dear Families,

We need your help to ensure our school’s continued success and growth! As part of our accreditation process this year, we’re asking all parents to complete a brief survey. Your feedback is invaluable, and your responses play a key role in helping us maintain high standards and provide the best possible educational experience for our students.

Please take a few moments to fill out the survey – every response counts and will make a difference for our school community.

Thank you so much for your time and support!

Auction 2025 News!

Hello Assumption Families!

Today you received a procurement flyer in your Wednesday envelope. All families have an obligation to give a $200 donation for the auction. This does not have to be cash! You can procure items from businesses in the community or donate an item or service toward your auction obligation. The flyer you received has ideas for how you can contribute.

We need your help with procuring items for the auction! Procurement is a great way to earn volunteer hours from home and is a tremendous help to the auction. If you are interested in joining our procurement team or have any questions about the auction, please email the auction co-chairs at growinggreatkidsauction@assumption.school

Thank you for your help!

Saint of the Week Question:

Answer to last week: St. Francis Cabrini was born in Italy in 1850 and the youngest of 13 children.  She was born 2 months premature and would live most of her life in a fragile state of health.  Filled with a deep trust in God and endowed with a wonderful administrative ability, she founded 67 institutions, including schools, hospitals and orphanages in 35 years.  And is the first U.S citizen to become a saint. She is the patron of immigrants.

Today, November 13th, is also her feast day.

Marina Wu is the winner this week and can come to spin the wheel for a prize!

New Question: This saint is a Doctor of the Church and remembered for his theological writings on the true divinity and the true humanity of Jesus Christ.  He also saved Italy and Europe from Attila the Hun by persuading him not to attack.  He was pope for 21 years in the 400’s.  Who is he?

**Please submit your answer by the office near the Disciple bulletin board.
