At Assumption, we help students learn to speak and understand new languages naturally, preparing them to connect with people across God’s world.
How We Teach
Instead of just memorizing vocabulary lists and grammar rules, students learn by hearing and using the language in real-life ways.
- Easy-to-Understand Lessons: We use stories, pictures, actions, and videos so students absorb the language naturally.
- Real-World Skills: Students learn how to listen, read, talk with others, and give short presentations in their new language.
- Step-by-Step Learning: Daily practice, fun activities, and classroom games help students build confidence before big unit projects. Textbooks give us our lesson topics, but class time is all about active, hands-on learning.
Our teaching methods follow national standards from ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages).
