Vocations Week Wrap Up

At Assumption Catholic School, we celebrated National Vocations Awareness Week by inviting 11 speakers—including deacons, priests, and three religious orders of sisters (the Sisters of Mercy from Shaw Island, the Sacred Heart Sisters from Southern California, and Sister Mary Eucharista from Spokane, WA). These inspiring guests shared what vocation means in the Catholic Church, offered insights into their religious orders, and spoke about their personal journeys into religious life.

Learning about vocations in a Catholic school setting is essential because it helps students understand how each of us is uniquely called to serve God and others. Whether through religious life, priesthood, marriage, or dedicated single life, each vocation has a powerful impact on the Church and the world. By meeting individuals who have embraced these different paths, our students see faith in action, gaining a broader understanding of how diverse roles within the Church allow each person to live out their unique calling with joy and purpose. This fosters spiritual growth and encourages students to consider their own gifts and how they might serve others in the future.

We’re grateful to Northwest Catholic Magazine for joining us to interview students and participate in the sessions, with plans to highlight Assumption Catholic School’s dedication to Vocations Awareness Week. A special thanks to Miss Copeland, our 5th-grade teacher, for organizing this impactful event and bringing the call of vocations to our students.

Veteran’s Prayer Service

This Thursday, Mrs. Martin Zender and the fourth graders will be leading the prayer service at 8:15am in the church. This is a special service to honor all veterans.  Please invite your family members and friends, especially those that have served in any branch of the military.

Calling Playground Angels!

Please remember that during “rainy day recess” we still could use help in the gym or classrooms.  But we try to go outside as often as possible during the fall and winter.

Thank you for your help in keeping recess fun and safe!

Archery Club

Mrs. Eusebio and Mr. & Mrs. Dennis are so excited to welcome archery back this winter! All 5th-8th grade ACS students can register by November 22nd, but please note that we are limiting the club to 20 students. This cap is necessary in order to safely provide enough time and instruction for ACS Archers to be able to qualify for competition this season!

Registration forms were included in today’s physical envelopes (please see Mrs. Michele King for extras). Our first club meeting will be on December 5th, and each Thursday morning thereafter until the state tournament in approximately mid-March (excluding school breaks). Due to gym usage in the afternoons, we meet before school from 7 – 7:50 am.

Archery is a super fun sport that also teaches great life skills like patience, teamwork, and focus. We look forward to an awesome season with your children!

Gorgeous Wreaths & Poinsettias

Don’t miss the opportunity to adorn your home or office with beautiful, fresh holiday decor while supporting a great cause!

Our Eighth Graders are once again selling poinsettias and wreaths from local Van Wingerden in Lynden. There are TWO ways to make your purchasing easy! Paper order forms went home last week and are available here, or check out our online store:

ALL orders will be available for pick up at the school on Friday, Dec. 6 (3-6 pm) and Saturday, Dec. 7 (8-10 am). Our kids will load your vehicle with a smile!

Thank you so much for supporting the Class of 2025!

Accreditation Update 2024

Dear Families,

We need your help to ensure our school’s continued success and growth! As part of our accreditation process this year, we’re asking all parents to complete a brief survey. Your feedback is invaluable, and your responses play a key role in helping us maintain high standards and provide the best possible educational experience for our students.

Please take a few moments to fill out the survey – every response counts and will make a difference for our school community.

Thank you so much for your time and support!

Grandparent Day Invitations

Grandparents’ Day is less than a month away and it is time to let our beloved grandparents know about a special day we have planned. Mark your calendars for November 22nd, where our students will honor their grandparents. We are excited to announce that it will coincide with our Fall Book Fair. You and your child will have a chance to look at a selection of books in our school library for purchase and fundraising before and after Mass on Friday. We thought families could hand deliver if grandparents are in town or take a picture and text the invitation to relatives!

We are still in need of books and puzzles for our used book sale. Please drop off this week and next week.  Thank you.
