Holy Hoops Coming in October!
Holy Hoops is a highly anticipated fall tradition at Assumption. This FREE four day, 4-on-4 basketball tournament is open to ALL Assumption 5th-8th graders. There are separate leagues for boys and girls and each team includes at least one 5th grader, 6th grader, 7th grader and 8th grader, plus one or two alumni coaches. All participants receive a T-shirt, a pizza/lunch party, pizza party at the end of the event, and build lifelong memories with friends and alumni.
Important: Holy Hoops Date Change!
Due to scheduling changes, Holy Hoops will now take place on the following days:
Monday, October 14th: 3:15 PM – 6:30 PM
Wednesday, October 16th: 2:15 PM – 6:30 PM
Thursday, October 17th & Friday, October 18th: 3:15 PM – 6:30 PM
⚠️ IMPORTANT There will be NO Holy Hoops on Tuesday, October 15th so that we can all go out and support Assumption’s last Cross Country meet! ⚠️
Please make note of these changes and adjust your schedules accordingly. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
We need players! (SIGN-UPS ARE DUE Friday, SEPTEMBER 27TH)
Our 9th annual Holy Hoops 4 on 4 basketball tournament is just around the corner – October 14th and 16th – 18th. This tournament is FREE, and we are encouraging all 5th – 8th grade students to participate. No basketball experience is necessary. All participants will receive little to no homework the week of Holy Hoops as well as a Holy Hoops t-shirt, lunch pizza party, end of event BASH and build life-long memories with teammates and competitors.
We need coaches!
We are also looking for Assumption Alumni to help coach! Whether it’s for the whole week or one day, we need YOU! We are able to work around school and sports schedules. This is a wonderful way to give back to your school and get high school service hours. Coaches also receive Holy Hoops t-shirts; the music room is open for studying and food will be provided by the Holy Hoops committee.
The running of this free community event relies upon support in the form of sponsorships from local families and businesses. Your generous donations go toward purchasing t-shirts for the teams, food and support for our coaches and referees, and prizes for winning teams. Please feel free to pass this onto your employer, friends and family who may want to sponsor. Our hope is that this event continues to be a long-standing tradition at our school, encouraging teamwork, good sportsmanship and community building.

Autumn Bash, Presented by our Student Ambassadors
A night full of music, dancing, food/drinks, fun, and a photo booth!
The Autumn Bash, a fun dance for Assumption Middle Schoolers, will take place on Saturday, October 12th, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm in the gym. It will be chaperoned by our teachers and staff! Permission slips and guidelines went home in today’s Wednesday envelopes. Please be sure to return completed forms and the small $5 entry fee (used for food and decorations) to the office by Friday, October 4th.
When we have a count of students attending, our Student Ambassadors will share a SignUpGenius in case parents would like to earn a volunteer hour by providing snacks for the dance.
We hope to see you there!
Scrip Fundraising
The Scrip program is a way to earn money for the school by purchasing gift cards to grocery stores, restaurants, and other places that we shop at. Please look for a form in your Wednesday envelope once a month or you may also stop by the office or days that our parents sell scrip outside.
SCRIP sales are a great way to earn fundraising hours. We are looking for people for specific shifts to sell SCRIP to families before and after school. Email Tam Bratt at sparklingstar81@hotmail.com with any questions!
St. Francis Animal Blessing October 2nd, Wednesday
The annual St. Francis Animal Blessing will be on October 2nd because the actual Feast of St. Francis is on Friday and would logistically be too hard with a Mass on the same day. So please bring pets on Wednesday at 8:00am in the traffic loop. Families are encouraged to bring their pets from home to be blessed by our priest, Fr. Stephan Dass. Last year we had a wonderful turnout of pets ranging from dogs, rats, a chicken, and other critters. Remember to keep your pet on a leash or in a container/carrier if needed. Parents do need to bring the pets home afterwards.
Thank you, 5th grade, Miss Copeland and Mrs. Roland for organizing this!
Pick-up reminders
Some students leave with their parents before the supervising teacher has arrived at his/her sign. The teacher has a list and would like to check each student before they leave campus. Please have your child check in with the teacher at his/her sign before leaving school in the afternoon.
Parents have done a good job of parking before the 3 pm time and walking or driving in once the gates open. To help with traffic further, please come at 3:05 if your child is in K-4, or at 3:10 pm if your child is in 5th-8th grade. If you have multiple children, you should come at the time of the youngest student. This will help with flow.
Finally, remember to only enter on the Virginia St. entrance to the parking lot, and exit on Kentucky by the high school.
Parent Prayer Group Tuesdays and Adoration on Wednesdays
Tuesday Prayer: Everyone is welcome to come and pray with other parents/grandparents in the library at 8-8:45am. We pray for each other and people in the school community. Small children welcome also. For more information, please contact Anne Patelli at annepatelli@hotmail.com
Adoration Time: Please join with other ACS family members for Adoration each Wednesday from 8am-9am in the church sanctuary. Adoration at Assumption Parish is 24 hours, but this hour will be designated as a time for school families to come pray together for the school and their own intentions. You don’t need to be Catholic to participate. All are welcome! Come for the whole hour, just a few minutes, or whatever works for you. Feel free to bring a bible, a journal, prayer book or devotional, and whatever is on your heart. Then find a space in the sanctuary and settle into the stillness of personal prayer with Jesus. Everyone is welcome to be part of this intimate and sacred prayer time. We will meet in the gathering space of the church from 8-8:15am to share school prayer requests and discuss any questions about Adoration.
