Calling Playground Angels!
Throughout the year, we have an ongoing need to keep these safety positions filled. Volunteer Opportunity — On Your Schedule!
Do you have a knack for connecting with people? Looking to earn fundraising volunteer hours from the comfort of your home? Join our Growing Great Kids Auction Sponsorship Team and help make this year’s event a great success!

We’re looking for 2–3 enthusiastic volunteers to help us reach out to potential sponsors. Sponsorships help cover event costs and bring in exciting auction items, making the night more successful and memorable.
What You’ll Do:
- Meet once or twice (starting in November) to identify and assign sponsor outreach
- Contact local businesses and invite them to support the auction
- Collect sponsor details to help our event chairs
- Bonus if you know businesses that might want to support our school!
This is a flexible and impactful role, and we’d love to have you on the team. If interested, please contact Dayna Dennis at ddennis@assumption.school
Thank you for helping us GROW GREAT KIDS!
...OR, Join the Procurement Team!
There’s no requirement to know what “procurement” even means! We’re assembling a team of 3-5 charming and persuasive parents to help gather fabulous item donations for the auction. No experience necessary! Just a willingness to send emails, make calls, and possibly barter for spa gift certificates!
This work also qualifies as fundraising volunteer hours and can be done on your own schedule. If this sounds like your jam, please email growinggreatkidsauction@assumption.school. Thank you!

SAVE THE DATE: HOLY HOOPS IS COMING

Love, Faith, and Basketball: Holy Hoops Marks 10th Anniversary
The tradition continues—bigger than ever! This year marks the 10th Annual Holy Hoops FREE four-day 4-on-4 Basketball Tournament. For a decade, Holy Hoops has brought our school community together through teamwork, sportsmanship, fun and faith.
This year’s tournament will once again be free for all 5th–8th grade students, with both a boys’ league and a girls’ league. Each team will be made up of students from different grade levels and guided by Assumption alumni serving as coaches. Whether your child is an experienced athlete or trying basketball for the very first time, everyone has a place on a team.
Note for 5th-8th students: Sometimes, students are hesitant to sign up because they are new to basketball. That’s OK! This tournament includes participants of ALL skill levels and that just adds to the fun. Encourage your friends and classmates to participate! Whether basketball is your favorite sport, or you’ve never shot a basketball- sign up to have fun with your friends after school and learn something new. We always have a great time (plus, you get a pizza party at the end)! Registration Deadline September 26th
Note for parents: This tournament is free, and the kids have a blast. We understand there are other after-school commitments, and the coaches will always work around them (all teams will have subs so it’s not critical for each player to be at every single game. Just let your coach know!) We also encourage you (parents) to come to the gym after school whenever you can to cheer on your favorite teams. If you have an ACS alumnus at home who is interested in being one of our awesome coaches, please encourage them to sign up.
A note to the ACS community: To keep this tournament free for all participants, we rely solely on event sponsorships from our generous community. There are levels to fit any budget, and all proceeds go toward putting on a great tournament for the students. Additional funds this year will help pay for basketball hoops repairs and a canopy for the cross country/track and field team! Registration Deadline October 7th.
Please see the sponsorship link below and consider donating to Holy Hoops.

New Saint Question of the Week!
This Saint was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. He is best known for writing the first Gospel in the New Testament. Before following Jesus, he worked as a tax collector. In those times, tax collectors were often disliked because they worked for the Roman government.
One day, Jesus saw he was sitting at his tax booth and called him to follow. he immediately left his job and became one of Jesus’ closest followers. He witnessed Jesus’ teachings, miracles, and resurrection. This changed the course of his life.
After Jesus’ death and resurrection, this Saint traveled to spread the message of Jesus. He shared the Good News with many people. His Gospel focuses on Jesus as the Messiah and emphasizes His teachings.
This Saint’s life shows the power of answering God’s call. He went from a tax collector to one of the great evangelists. His feast day is celebrated on September 21. He is the patron saint of tax collectors, bankers, and accountants.
Put your answer in the jar by the Discipleship Board.
Last Week: This Saint is one of the most well-known preachers in Church history. His name means “golden mouth.” He lived during the fourth and early fifth centuries. He became the Archbishop of Constantinople, one of the most important cities at the time. He preached often, taught the people, and cared for the poor. He spoke boldly, even when it caused him trouble.
This Saint did not try to please powerful people. He spoke the truth, even if it was risky. He told the rich to help the poor. He told leaders to act justly. This made many enemies for him, including people in the Church and in the royal court. He is also one of the Doctors of the Church. His sermons and writings are still read today. He remains a strong example of someone who loved God, cared for the poor, and told the truth with courage. His feast day is September 13th.
