SAVE THE DATE – THE TRADITION IS BACK: HOLY HOOPS

Mark your calendars—because Holy Hoops is back and bigger than ever! This year marks the 10th Annual Tournament, a milestone celebrating a decade of fun, friendship, and faith-filled competition on the court.

Join us for four days of FREE 4-on-4 basketball, open to all 5th – 8th graders! Whether you’re a seasoned player or brand new to the game, everyone’s welcome to join the fun. We’ll have boys’ and girls’ leagues, mixed-grade teams, and an epic end-of-event BASH!

No experience needed—just bring your energy, and we’ll provide lifelong memories.

Sign-ups for participants, alumni, and sponsors start next week. Don’t miss out on the tradition!

Drop-off/pick-up procedures- IMPORTANT!

  • For the safety of the children, please do not use a cell phone while driving through the traffic loop. We need parents to be extra diligent and drive slowly in the traffic loop since there are so many students and significant traffic.
  • Please also remember not to arrive before 11:45 am or 2 pm on Early Release Days, and not before 3 pm on regular days. We don’t want cars to back up on the street. If you’re here early, pull in and park until the gate opens.
  • Students will be dismissed at 3 pm, but we stagger the pick-up so that K-4 parents should pick up at 3:05 pm and 5-8 parents at 3:10 pm. Preschool parents can pick up at 3 pm. If you arrive before 3 pm, please pull in and park until the gate opens at 3:05 pm. If your child is not at his/her sign, please pull around the loop (you don’t need to go all the way out of the parking lot).
  • Do not allow children to run on the sidewalks as traffic is moving nearby.
  • Remember that traffic is always one way in the morning and the afternoon. Enter by the Virginia St. side and exit on the Kentucky St. side (by Bellingham High School).
  • Students in grades four and above can have permission to walk or bike home. Children in grades three and below must walk with a parent or older sibling. Students who are biking or walking should exit through the Cornwall gate only. We need consent on this form (link to PDF) if you give your child permission to walk or bike home. Please complete this by Friday, September 5th.

YARD SIGN RECYCLE

To our new families & kindergarten families, we hope you enjoyed your “Welcome” yard sign! If you are finished with it, please return your sign to the school office. We reuse these signs each year!

Saint Question of the Week!

This Saint is one of the most well-known preachers in Church history. His name means “golden mouth.” He lived during the fourth and early fifth centuries. He became the Archbishop of Constantinople, one of the most important cities at the time. He preached often, taught the people, and cared for the poor. He spoke boldly, even when it caused him trouble.

This Saint did not try to please powerful people. He spoke the truth, even if it was risky. He told the rich to help the poor. He told leaders to act justly. This made many enemies for him, including people in the Church and in the royal court. He is also one of the Doctors of the Church. His sermons and writings are still read today. He remains a strong example of someone who loved God, cared for the poor, and told the truth with courage. His feast day is September 13th.
