Save the Date! Science Fair is Thursday, March 20th
Science & Engineering Fair returns to Assumption the evening of Thursday, March 20th– 6-7:30pm.
The fair will take place in the gym and feature individual projects from all ACS middle school students. All middle school students may take their projects home after the fair.
K-5th grades will not take projects home because the teachers will have student presentations and grading on Friday.

Focus on First Grade!
Admissions season is in full swing, and we’re excited to share an update. With so many families returning next year and strong interest from new applicants, we anticipate that all but one of our classes will likely be full. It’s a blessing to see our community grow and thrive!
The exception is our 2025-26 first grade class, where we still have several spots available. This aligns with a lower-than-average demographic for this age group across many local schools. If you know a family seeking an excellent school for their First Grader, please connect them with Mrs. Dennis (ddennis@assumption.school). She is happy to answer any questions and arrange a no-obligation tour!

Get Ready to Run! 🏃♀️🏃♂️
We’re thrilled to announce that it is almost time for the 41st Annual Ellen Anderson Fun Run! The theme this year is: Let’s Glow! Neon Fun Run
This yearly event is an exciting way for the students to participate in fundraising for the school while having fun! We ask for parent cooperation by purchasing a T-Shirt asking family, friends, and neighbors for pledges per lap, or a flat pledge amount to help us reach our fundraising goal.

AUCTION UPDATE: CO-CHAIR NEEDED
Seeking Auction Co-Chair Position: Do you enjoy planning large events and possess excellent communication skills? We are currently looking for a co-chair for the Growing Great Kids Auction and Gala on March 7th, 2026. This two-year commitment involves first learning the auction planning process and assisting in duties this coming school year, and then you will take the lead while coaching a new co-chair the following year. Duties include recruiting and managing several volunteer teams, giving reports at PTC meetings, overseeing the creation of marketing and communication materials, coordinating with internal school staff and external vendors, updating and managing an auction website, and managing financial details and budget for this important school fundraiser. EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY AND SPORTS/GRADE POLICY REFINEMENT/CLARIFICATION
- Students are expected to keep their grades above 73% in order to participate in sports and extra-curricular activities. Students and families are responsible for keeping informed of their grades (see FACTS) and reaching out for help from teachers when needed. Students who have grades below 73% at 3:30 pm on Friday, will not be allowed to do sports or extra-curricular activities FOR THE ENTIRE NEXT WEEK. Even if your student gets their grade up the next week, they will still be unable to return to their activity or sport that week. Having a grade below 73% on Friday at 3:30 pm will result in a week-long suspension from sports/activities.
- Additionally, if the grade is still low on the following Tuesday, students should attend the after-school study hall to help them get caught up. This study hall is a great opportunity for students to get help from a teacher.
- Note that receiving a behavior report will also result in a student being unable to participate in sports and activities the entire following week.
Co-Curricular Activities
- Track and Field is starting next Monday, March 24th.
- Volleyball and Wrestling are in progress now. Look at the March calendar for home games. Go Eagles!
- Chess Club has a competition on Saturday, March 22nd. Last day celebration is Monday, March 24th.
Family Literacy Night-Save the Date!
April 25th, Friday, 5-6:30pm, we will be hosting an evening in the gym-free of charge to enjoy games, best reading practices, time for community, book exchange, light food, and fun!
Dressing up as a book character or pajamas is another option too!

Attendance Procedures for Illness or Vacation
When there is going to be an absence due to illness or trip or family emergency, please email or call the front office: theoffice@assumption.school
Best practice is to always include the homeroom teacher and the office at the same time. Finally, the Archdiocese does not require as many days as the public schools and so we are blessed to have this extra time for longer weekends or staff development, and we ask kindly that families try to take trips during our school scheduled days off.

ACS Bilingual Student Stations of the Cross
ACS is responsible for hosting Friday, March 28th Bilingual Student-Led Stations of the Cross at 6:00. It is a wonderful way to pray.
Please consider signing up your child for a part. Needed: English and Spanish speakers, cross and candle bearers, Singing a transition. Students would need to be at the church by 5:45. There will be a quick rehearsal on Tuesday, March 25th right after school in the church. (3:15pm – 4pm) It is a great way to bring Lenten faith practices in your family. We need students!

St. Joachim Work Party for Pilgrimage
Save the Date: Saturday March 22nd 10-2pm. Two flyers are in your Wednesday envelopes about cleaning up and projects to happen in phases.
Bring gloves and shovels and rakes and small tools to do this “Spring clean” for the parishioners and people on pilgrimage to our far north parish of the Seattle Diocese.
We are so grateful to have the Lummi tribe and to celebrate with them the news of Archbishop Etienne’s confirmation of St. Joachim as a pilgrimage destination in Western Washington during the Jubilee Year of Hope.
Archdiocese of Seattle’s 175th Anniversary Celebration
The Archdiocese of Seattle is celebrating its 175th anniversary! We are all invited to join Catholics across Western Washington to serve others together as the loving Body of Christ through the Season of Service, which runs from March to May of 2025.
You can participate by serving and logging in your hours. Together we are trying to log in 175,000 hours! You can join service opportunities at your parish, school or ministry. Youth Group News
Dear Middle School Families,
This week, we have our Bible study followed by Stations of the Cross at Sacred Heart. I’d like to clarify a few things, especially since this week will be a little different.
The Bible study runs from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM, and then we move into the church for Stations of the Cross with families. Typically, our group has been sitting together, which hasn’t been an issue—I’ve enjoyed sitting with them, and they’ve been a great group. However, this week will be different because I will not be there.
David Strutz (whom the youth know as “Pops”) will be leading the Bible study, but afterward, he will not be supervising them in the church as I have been doing the past two weeks. While most families attend the Stations of the Cross, some youth have been sitting unattended. Since I won’t be there, I strongly encourage them to either:
- Sit with a friend’s family, or
- Preferably, attend with you as a family, since the Stations of the Cross are for everyone.
I don’t anticipate this being an issue, but I wanted to clarify that our scheduled time with the youth is from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM, after which they are expected to be with their families.

Saint of the Week Question:
Answer to last week: St. Perpetua and St. Felicity
These two women saints were martyred together in the Roman Colosseum during the Christian persecution in the 3rd century. One was a new nursing mother and the other was 8 months pregnant.
Both were very steadfast and strong in their faith in God. The Roman emperor at the time had them thrown to the wild beasts for their Christian beliefs.
