RED AND GREEN DAY DECEMBER 18TH
For Casual Dress Wednesday, December 18th, we are celebrating Christmas early and it is a favorite of the students! They can choose to wear red or green for the upcoming Christmas holiday. Please remember to read and follow the uniform policy for appropriate clothes. If you have any questions, you may call the office for more information.

Tuition assistance applications are due December 31st
If you are applying for tuition assistance from the Fulcrum Foundation for the 2025-2026 school year, applications are due no later than December 31st. (Applications for Faith Community Scholarships will begin in 2025.)
FACTS Fulcrum & Assumption Tuition Assistance Applications
Tuition Assistance applications are now open for the 2025-2026 school year!
The website to complete the application is https://online.factsmgt.com/SignIn.aspx
The window to complete the application is from October 2, 2024, through December 31, 2024. This application is for both the Fulcrum Foundation Tuition Assistance Program and the Assumption Catholic School Tuition Assistance Program.
As a reminder, submitting the application online is just the first step. All applicants must also provide supporting documentation, including your 2023 1040 tax returns and W-2’s. Applications can only be verified and processed once all necessary documentation is submitted. It takes FACTS about 14 business days to process applications once paperwork is received, so the sooner it’s submitted, the better.
The deadline for applications to be submitted and documents to be uploaded into FACTS is December 31, 2024.

Uniform Reminders
- This Friday, December 13th is regular uniform. You may also have free dress if you went to Mass in Whatcom county and have a free dress coupon.
- All students in K-8th grade should not wear shorts or skorts to school from Octoer 1st to March 1st. Please review the uniform policy and call the office if you have any questions.

Assumption Catholic School Foundation
The Assumption Catholic School Foundation is excited to report the assets in the Foundation now exceeds $1.0 million!!!
This milestone can only have been achieved through your generous investments. This year to date, the Foundation has received investments more than $85,000 from generous supporters. Over the past ten years, the Foundation has grown its assets from $350,000 to over $1.0M. The Foundation’s mission is to provide scholarships to students in need of financial support to enable them to attend the school in perpetuity. The funding for these scholarships is provided by distributions from the foundation on an annual basis of 4% of the average year-end balance of assets over the past three years.
In 2024, the amount provided was $25,088. These funds reduced the tuition for all students in the current school year. The assets in the foundation are managed by a professional money manager. As the Foundation is governed by a volunteer board all the money that you invest is available for scholarships. As you consider your tithing budget for the upcoming year, please consider contributing to the foundation. This is truly an investment that pays huge dividends to our Catholic community.

Christmas Program December 19th!
We are so excited to bring the Christmas program to you! But we also want to provide a few reminders and updates:
- Students wear their “Christmas best” except for eighth graders who are in costume for the play. Please follow the Event Dress Codein the Uniform Policy on the school’s website for modesty guidelines.
- Seating in the church will be limited. To make more room for guests, students will be in their classrooms during the performance until it is their time to sing/perform. Please have them to their classrooms by 6:40 pm. Middle School students should go to the St. Cecelia Room for Orchestra and the gym for Choir and Band. The school doors will open at 6:40 pm.
- Doors to the Gathering Space will be open early, but the doors to the church will remain closed until 6:30 pm. Please be mindful when entering the church that we have 150 families who will be looking for seats, so reserve only what you need. You don’t need to reserve a spot for your Assumption student- he/she will be with the class in the classroom.
- Parking is reserved in front of the church for the seats purchased at the auction. The first two pews on each side are also reserved- first pew on either side for seats purchased in March 2024.
- Students will all be back in the church for the final song so please don’t leave early. They will return to their classrooms after the final song and should be picked up by their parents from the classroom. There is no reception in the gym, so families can leave as soon as they’ve picked up their children.
- All performances are in front of the altar, facing the main “nave” of the church. You are welcome to sit on the north or south transepts, but students will be facing the main part of the church.
Bright Futures Annual Fund Update
Our deepest gratitude goes to the many current families who have already given so selflessly to this year’s fund! We are humbled by your generosity and belief in the mission of our school. So far, we have received $90,742 in donations toward our goal of $140,000!
FACT: The Annual Fund reduces every Assumption student’s tuition by approximately $600 this school year.
If your family can share any portion of that gift back, others will also benefit, furthering the investment in the future of our community and world!
The common good is reached when we work together to improve the wellbeing of all, and we are blessed to be part of a school community that lives that Catholic teaching.

Last call for classroom project donations!
Please submit your recommended $10 per student donation to the office ASAP! This will allow the room parents to form a project plan based on the amount of money they have available. You can make checks out to “Assumption PTC”. Please contact your room parents if you have any ideas or would like to assist in the creation of the student projects. These items are always crowd favorites! (*please note that this donation is not required and is not part of your family obligation)

The 25th Annual Growing Great Kids Auction and Gala is made possible with the help and support of many businesses and organizations. We have sponsorship levels ranging between $10,000 to $500 and offer many levels of recognition, visibility and engagement. Procurement
Each family has agreed to support the Growing Great Kids Auction with a cash donation or procured item worth at least $200 ($100 for preschool and single parent families). This commitment may be completed in several ways: cash, or check, Scrip donation, sponsorship, offer use of a timeshare, host a dinner, provide tickets, or create a themed basket. Items are due on January 24th. Please remember to fill out the procurement form (sent in your Wednesday envelope or available at the office).

Raise Right/Scrip Program
This is a major fundraiser for the school, and it is easy to use. This program uses gift cards that you can purchase from the school office or even online. If you are looking for gift cards for Christmas: stop by the front of the school on Fridays, from 7:45 – 8:15am and get all your shopping done. Our parent volunteers will help you fill out the form if needed.

Middle School Youth Group Schedule
Dear Middle School Families,
Just a quick reminder: Lessons and Carols will take place on Friday, December 20th, at 7:00 PM. We hope your family can join us for this beautiful Advent tradition at Sacred Heart.
For our Christmas Party, we’ll meet on Friday, January 3rd, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Sacred Heart Hall. This is still during the Christmas season, even though it’s before school starts again. After talking with the youth group, we’ll celebrate with food, games, candy, and a White Elephant Gift Exchange!
Here’s what to know about the White Elephant exchange:
- Bring a wrapped gift valued at $5 or less.
- Gifts can be new, regifted, or something fun or quirky from around your home.
- The game involves opening gifts and the chance to “steal” more desirable items—don’t worry, we’ll explain all the rules at the party!
If you forget to bring a gift, I’ll have a few extras, but please try to bring one to ensure everyone can participate.

Mass Friday, December 20th
On Friday, Miss Copeland’s 5th grade class is leading parts of the Mass. All are invited to attend Mass at 8:15am. Dress uniform required.
Our altar servers are Terra Machinski, Finley Twining and Annalise Twining! Please remind them to come to the church by 8:00am or earlier.
Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are Mrs. MZ-Host 2 and Kaleb Jacobs with Mrs. Williams- Host 3.

PREPARES announcement
PREPARES is a program started by a Knights of Columbus council in south Seattle and was such a success that it is now a ministry of the Seattle Archdiocese to help families with young children.
The PREPARES program at St. Joseph- Lynden has just been granted access to the basement and garage at the regional office annex located at 209 12th Street.
All future diaper giveaways will be conducted from this location. Giveaways are hosted on the 3rd Friday of the month where families receive diapers wipes, and donated food and shop the children’s basement boutique that offers clothes, toys, and more. We accept donations at the regional office annex, and they can be dropped off by appointment, please call 253-356-5529. We are always in need of size 6 diapers, baby wipes, and children’s shoes. The program serves 200 families across the county from ages 0-5. We are always looking for volunteers, contact Pam Ames: pamames@comcast.net.
