Share your Assumption Love!

We are blessed to be supporting a number of newly enrolled families for the 2024-25 school year! We need the help of our current families to make them feel welcomed into our warm and caring community. This is an easy way to get volunteer hours and a great way to connect with new families. We are looking to fill this need at all grade levels. Please click the link and fill out the online survey to share your interest and be contacted in late June.

Let’s show our newest community members the supportive and loving “Assumption Way”- thank you! https://forms.office.com/r/Kgaa90qBpn

SEVENTH GRADE GRATITUDE

Our Seventh Graders and their families want to express our heartfelt thanks to the Assumption community for supporting our spring fundraising events toward our class trip to D.C. next year! To all of you who stood in line and paid more than a popsicle or Drumstick is worth, we so appreciate it!

We fundraise in part to make the trip more affordable for families, but also to involve our kids in helping to earn their way. It’s a super important lesson at an age when they are forming a lifelong work ethic. Thank you so much for your contributions to both causes!

Immediate volunteer help is needed this FRIDAY, JUNE 14th and Monday, June 17th

We need your help this week! All of the middle school lockers are being recycled and we need parents to help get them out of the building. Please be here by 9 am on Friday, June 14 and we should be done by 11 am. Bring electric screwdrivers and/or hand trucks if you have them.

We also need your help on Monday, June 17. The carpets are coming out of three classrooms and everything needs to come off the walls for painting. Please be here at 9 am on Monday if you are free.

Finally, mark your calendars for the week of August 9th. We don’t know yet what day the furniture will arrive, but sometime that week. When the desks and new lockers arrive, we need help bringing them into the classrooms. We may try to coordinate Saturday, August 17th from 9-12, as well, for those who work during the weekdays. Contact theoffice@assumption.school with any questions.

PTC

Volunteer needs:

  • Harvest Festival:PTC needs one or two individuals who would be willing to shadow Lynette for the Harvest Festival. Next year will be Lynette’s final year as the Chair of the Harvest Festival, and we are looking for someone who would be willing to learn about the planning and take on this event for the future 2025 season.
  • Auction:PTC is also looking for a cochair for the Auction. We are blessed to have the wonderful, Krissy Abbey, for next year’s auction, however this is a two-person project. If you are interested in helping out with this event, please reach out.

Used Uniform Sale in August

It seems like a long time from now but mark your calendars for August 7th and 8th.  We will be having our Used Uniform Sale those two days only. More information to come.  To prepare for our sale, you can bring in those uniform items that are too small and someone else can use them.  We will be taking clothes until the end of June.

Bellingham Chamber Chorale presents Handel’s Messiah

The Bellingham Chamber Chorale will present Handel’s Messiah on Saturday, June 15 (noon) and Sunday, June 16 (5 pm) at Church of the Assumption in Bellingham. Tickets for Handel’s Messiah are on sale now (with special pricing for students) at www.bellinghamchamberchorale.org or can be purchased at the door, 30 minutes before each concert.

Under the leadership of Dr. Frederick Mabalot, the Bellingham Chamber Chorale will perform Handel’s timeless masterpiece. While Handel’s Messiah is often associated with Christmas, this iconic masterpiece, composed in just 24 days in 1741, premiered in April 1742, just a few weeks after Easter. The libretto, a collection of Scripture, beautifully weaves together the events of Easter and Christmas, making it a significant piece of work that extends beyond the Nativity story to encompass the entire life of Jesus Christ.

These BCC concerts are wonderful opportunities for students and young musicians to experience one of the greatest works of Western music, performed by some of the most talented musicians and singers in the Pacific Northwest.

Office Hours in the summer

From June 17 until June 28, the school office will be open from 9-3 pm. It will be closed for July, but the office staff will check messages intermittently. The office will reopen on August 5 and continue 9-3 pm until Monday, August 19.

Scrip: start buying your Scrip now for next year!  You are welcome to come to the office and buy scrip.  We only ask that you call or email before coming to make sure we have what you need in stock.

The Agape Service Project Needs Help Preparing Food Bank!

The 1st food bank that the Agape Service Project will operate this summer will be on June 19th in Lynden. We have been asked to help the Agape staff prep and run the first food bank of the summer until their youth groups arrive to help the following week. Prep help is needed on Tuesday June 18th from 9:00-11:45 and Wednesday June 19th from 08:30-6:30. We are seeking any Assumption/ Sacred Heart parishioners or Assumption Middle School students to help with this service project. Parents are welcome to join in also! We will meet at Assumption and carpool to Lynden.

Please email Sara Rush at sara.m.rush@gmail.com or call 360-556-2271 if your student or family member is interested and forms will be emailed to you. We will not be registering on the Agape internet site since our group is not part of the summer youth groups.  See flyer here for more info.

Saint Question of the Week!

If you think you know the answer to the question below, then write your name, grade, and guess on a piece of paper and turn it in to Mrs. King in the office.  We are lifelong learners of our Catholic faith.  There is so much to learn!

Final Saint/Catholic question: Since we are called Assumption Catholic School, with Mary as our patron saint, when does the church celebrate the Assumption of Mary?  The answer is C. August 15th

The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
