Buddy Families Still Needed!

We are blessed to be supporting a number of newly enrolled families for the 2024-25 school year! We need the help of our current families to make them feel welcomed into our warm and caring community. This is an easy way to get volunteer hours and a great way to connect with new families. We are looking to fill this need at all grade levels. Please click the link and fill out the online survey to share your interest and be contacted in late June.

Let’s show our newest community members the supportive and loving “Assumption Way”- thank you! https://forms.office.com/r/Kgaa90qBpn

Tomorrow, Thursday, June 6th, we will have our FINAL treat sale of the school year at pick up. Please come support our current 7th Graders as they kick off fundraising efforts for their own class trip to Washington D.C. next spring!

We only have one week left and we need you each day.

Thank you to all of you die-hard supervisors for the playground!

The Agape Service Project Needs Help Preparing Food Bank!

The 1st food bank that the Agape Service Project will operate this summer will be on June 19th in Lynden. We have been asked to help the Agape staff prep and run the first food bank of the summer until their youth groups arrive to help the following week. Prep help is needed on Tuesday June 18th from 9:00-11:45 and Wednesday June 19th from 08:30-6:30. We are seeking any Assumption/ Sacred Heart parishioners or Assumption Middle School students to help with this service project. Parents are welcome to join in also! We will meet at Assumption and carpool to Lynden.

Please email Sara Rush at sara.m.rush@gmail.com or call 360-556-2271 if your student or family member is interested and forms will be emailed to you. We will not be registering on the Agape internet site since our group is not part of the summer youth groups.  See flyer here for more info.

Please note a change to middle school staffing from a previous announcement. Ms. Zech will be the other sixth-grade homeroom teacher. Mrs. Caitlin Creech will be the seventh-grade homeroom teacher.

We would also like to welcome two new staff members. Cami Ene will be the first-grade classroom aide for next year; and Kat Alex will be a part-time aide, split between fourth and fifth grade in the 2024-2025 school year. Neither of them have worked in education before, but both are very enthusiastic and have already begun communicating with the teachers.

Graduation Mass Choir

Students who are not in Dr. Mabalot’s Choir class are invited to join the Graduation Mass Choir on Thursday, June 6th!

There is only one rehearsal, which will be on Graduation Day at 3:00 p.m. in the church. Mass will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Parents should be ready to pick up their child in the Gathering space by 6:45 p.m. or simply attend Mass and get your child after Mass.

Please email drmabalot@assumption.org to sign-up!

Volunteer needs:

  • Harvest Festival: PTC needs one or two individuals who would be willing to shadow Lynette for the Harvest Festival. Next year will be Lynette’s final year as the Chair of the Harvest Festival, and we are looking for someone who would be willing to learn about the planning and take on this event for the future 2025 season.
  • Auction: PTC is also looking for a cochair for the Auction. We are blessed to have the wonderful, Krissy Abbey, for next year’s auction, however this is a two-person project. If you are interested in helping out with this event, please reach out.

Those interested in volunteering may contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Tia, at volunteer23@assumption.school

Please enjoy a short video of our day celebrating Mrs. Thomas and Mrs. McClurg on Tuesday, June 4th!

Please remember that this time at the Sportsplex is for families and not a “drop off” time.  We are asking for parents to stay with their children for fun, food and games.

To plan for everyone coming: use the QR code or the RSVP link in the flyer.

The link last week did not work.  Sorry for this inconvenience.

Finally, we are asking for help while families are there: Please use this SignUp Genius below to see how to help make this an amazing time. Thank you to Jessica Lane and Tia Entrikin.

Bellingham Chamber Chorale presents Handel’s Messiah

The Bellingham Chamber Chorale will present Handel’s Messiah on Saturday, June 15 (noon) and Sunday, June 16 (5 pm) at Church of the Assumption in Bellingham. Tickets for Handel’s Messiah are on sale now (with special pricing for students) at www.bellinghamchamberchorale.org or can be purchased at the door, 30 minutes before each concert.

Under the leadership of Dr. Frederick Mabalot, the Bellingham Chamber Chorale will perform Handel’s timeless masterpiece. While Handel’s Messiah is often associated with Christmas, this iconic masterpiece, composed in just 24 days in 1741, was premiered in April 1742, just a few weeks after Easter. The libretto, a collection of Scripture, beautifully weaves together the events of Easter and Christmas, making it a significant piece of work that extends beyond the Nativity story to encompass the entire life of Jesus Christ.

These BCC concerts are wonderful opportunities for students and young musicians to experience one of the greatest works of Western music, performed by some of the most talented musicians and singers in the Pacific Northwest.

If you think you know the answer to the question below, then write your name, grade, and guess on a piece of paper and turn it in to Mrs. King in the office.  We are lifelong learners of our Catholic faith.  There is so much to learn!

Last Week: 1246 a.d.  The Bishop of Liege, Robert de Torote, ordered the initial feast day because St. Juliana experienced a vision and a Eucharistic miracle.

Baylen Richmond guessed the right answser.

Final Saint/Catholic question: Since we are called Assumption Catholic School, with Mary as our patron saint, when does the church celebrate the Assumption of Mary?

  2. May 31st
  3. August 15th
