We need coaches

We are also looking for Assumption Alumni to help coach! Whether it’s for the whole week or one day, we need YOU! We are able to work around school and sports schedules. This is a wonderful way to give back to your school and also get high school service hours. Coaches also receive Holy Hoops t-shirts; the music room is open for studying and food will be provided by the Holy Hoops committee.

We need sponsors!

The running of this free community event relies upon support in the form of sponsorships from local families and businesses. Your generous donations go toward purchasing t-shirts for the teams, food and support for our coaches and referees, and prizes for winning teams. Please feel free to pass this onto your employer, friends and family who may want to sponsor. Our hope is that this event continues to be a long-standing tradition at our school, encouraging teamwork, good sportsmanship and community building.

Be sure to complete your order by this Friday, September 30th!

Active playground reminder

We are so grateful to our family volunteers for keeping Assumption students safe on the playground! As a reminder, when volunteering at recess, we ask that you are spread out, always scanning the field and parking lot, and are aware of students playing. To that end, please refrain from using your cell phone and/or having long chats with other parents, both of which may distract you from this important job focused on student safety. Thank you!

Playground Angels Wanted!

We have an ongoing need to keep these safety positions filled. You get to earn volunteer hours and it’s a great way to see your child during the day while getting to know their friends. Thank you for your help in keeping recess fun and safe!

Walking in Holiness With the Saints

This is a new section of the newsletter, and we hope that you will enjoy learning about how saints are a great example of holiness, strength, and courage one day at a time.  This is a whole family activity and conversation starter.  Below is a description of a saint but their name is withheld. See if you can guess who the saint is and get your name put in for a prize drawing.

See Mrs. Sidhu in the office if you have a guess. Mrs. King will award prizes when she returns on October 10th!

The winners from last week were Baylen, Andrew and Joseph Richmond as a family group and also Evelyn White. All four got this answer right: it was St. Padre Pio. Congratulations to all of them!

New Saint: When I was about 12 or 13, I was ordered to offer sacrifices to the pagan gods.  Then I was threatened to give up my virginity.  The officials took me up a mountain to a Roman temple. There I was tortured and threatened with more bad things.  I was not afraid to say no!  I would not turn against God in any way possible and prayed to Him for help.  I did die a martyr’s death because of this.  My love for the Lord was very great and she hated sin even more than death! Since she was very beautiful, many young men wanted to marry her, but she always said, ” Jesus Christ is my only Spouse.”    (answer St. Agnes)

Who is this saint?  ________________
