PTC MEETING: OCTOBER 21st!

The Eagles XC team crushed through their season!

Our Eagles cross country team is celebrating a successful season that wrapped up on Wednesday with one final meet at Lynden Christian. At last week’s “Hole-in-the-Wall Invitational” our team competed against hundreds of athletes from all over the state with many ACS runners finishing in the top 10. For 8th grade, Collin, Elodie, Lauren and Macie all placed in the top 10 overall for their gender and won custom Nike backpacks. For 7th grade, Thomas finished in the top 13, and for 6th graders, top finishers included: Nicholas (2nd), Taylor (11th), Gabriel (12th) and Lana (13th). Every runner worked hard and improved so much this season and their toughness was on full display at each and every race.
If you see any Eagles XC runners around campus, please congratulate them on a fantastic season!

- Next week there will be an official announcement involving the patch on shirts and sweater from Skobels and how it will be resolved.
- This decision to use Skobels will be a win-win for both the school and Skobels that includes school rebates of 10% with the 3 year contract. More information and details next week.

Tardy Unexcused Notifications
As the school year has progressed and we are all getting our routines down, the attendance office and teachers have given warnings to those students that have arrived late without notice to the office or late unexcused. All students are considered late by 8:10 and not in their homeroom.
Starting this week, the “unexcused tardy” notifications have been turned on in our FACTS system. If your child is 5-8th grade, on the third unexcused tardy they will receive a lunch detention. On the sixth unexcused tardy, the student will receive an after-school detention. This will help all students and parents be aware of how important it is to be on time for class, especially in middle school. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact the office and/or speak to the principal.
Uniform Reminders
Starting this week, the “uniform reminders” for being properly dressed will now be a behavior write up as stated in the Parent/Student handbook. After a period of grace, families should have students in proper uniform whether that is regular, dress or Wednesday “spirit” wear with jeans and t-shirts. After a student receives 3 “out of uniform” notices in Facts, they will have a lunch detention. Please refer to the uniform policy listed in the handbook and online here. Uniform policy.

Virtue for October- Friendship
In our school-wide program called “Virtues in Practice” we will be talking all month long about friendship. Here is how friendship is defined: Friendship is sharing a mutual love that seeks the good of the other. This is very close to how we define Love in our faith- willing the good of the other. However, we can see in this definition, the relationship is identified as reciprocal. The “good’ mutually offered to each other is not just in material form, but also in relational harmony and spiritual support (CCC 1939-1942). We are a good friend when we seek to diffuse tensions, serve each other where we can, and encourage deeper communion with God. This is also called solidarity.
In Sirach 6:14-17 we read:
“Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter;
whoever finds one finds a treasure.
Faithful friends are beyond price,
no amount can balance their worth.
Faithful friends are life-saving medicine;
those who fear God will find them.
Those who fear the Lord enjoy stable friendship,
for as they are, so will their neighbors be.”

We look forward to a great night together!
Saint Question of the Week

New Question of the week:This female Saint was a 16th century Spanish mystic who, in addition to helping the Church through the Counter-Reformation, reformed the Carmelite order. Noticing the lackadaisical practices in her cloister and the lack of intent in many of her convent’s actions, she wanted to reform the Carmelites to a more strict observance. She developed a friendship with the future St. John of the Cross, who helped reform many Carmelite monasteries. Together, they founded the Discalced Carmelites. She is famous for many of her mystical writings, especially Interior Castle, The Way of Perfection, and her autobiography. Her mystical works and other writings led to her being declared the first female Doctor of the Church. She is quoted often as saying:
“Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.”
She is the patron of headache sufferers.
Please put your answer/guess with your name in the jar by the office bulletin board.
Last Week’s Question/Answer: St. John Henry Newman. Andrew Richmond is the winner and can come and spin the wheel. Congratulations!!!
