Pizza Dates Wrong on October Calendar!
Please note the following dates for pizza:
October 5th……in just 4 days and
October 19th! Sorry for any confusion about this. We will have a text blast reminder on Sunday too.
VOLUNTEER HOURS FROM HOME!
Our Bright Futures Annual Fund appeal letters should be arriving from the printer next week, and Mrs. Dennis is looking for parent volunteers to help assemble and stuff them.
The project can be completed at home and counts toward your fundraising volunteer hours. If you’re willing to help, please email Dayna: ddennis@assumption.school. The first three volunteers to respond will get the assignment.
Thank you for helping us make this critical fundraiser a success!
Holy Hoops: The Tradition Continues!!!
This year’s tournament will run from October 13 through October 16, with games scheduled between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday. Students are only required to attend during their scheduled game times. To support student participation, Mr. Ramos has approved reduced homework for all Holy Hoops players during the week of the tournament.
Open Gym: Monday Oct. 5th
An open gym date will be from 3:15-4:15.
Alumni Coaches Needed: Last Call!!
Holy Hoops is also an opportunity for ACS alumni to give back to their school community. Alumni interested in coaching are invited to complete a coach’s form by October 7th time TBA. This is a fun way to reconnect with old classmates over a sport we all love — and it also looks great as volunteer hours on your resume or college application.
Parent Volunteers
Volunteers play a critical role in the success of this event, and we greatly appreciate your support.

- T-shirts
- Food
- Prizes for team champions and individual skill events
- Coach support
A sponsorship flyer has been sent home in your Wednesday envelope. Families are encouraged to share it with employers, friends, and extended family — or consider sponsoring as a family.

🥍 OCTOBER CAMP: LACROSSE!
We are kicking off our first camp with one of our past favorites—Lacrosse!
We are grateful to Whatcom Youth Girls Lacrosse for sponsoring our October camp. They are bringing coaches and high school players to introduce our students to the basics of this exciting sport. We are thrilled to welcome them back to Assumption!
The camp is open to both boys and girls and will take place October 5–8 from 3:15–4:15 p.m. All registrations must be completed by Thursday, October 1st and the fee for this one is $30 per student.
🎉 AFTER-SCHOOL EXTENSION CAMPS ARE BACK! 🎉
PTC is excited to partner with Mrs. Williams to bring back our After-School Extension Camps for elementary-aged students! Our goal is to give students the opportunity to explore a variety of fun, engaging experiences beyond the school day.
- Camps will typically take place the first week of each month, unless otherwise specified, from 3:15–4:15 p.m., Monday–Friday (including Wednesdays).
- Since there is no school on the 9th, our camp will be Monday through Thursday for the month of October. Also, there will be a minimal fee for each camp, with scholarships available. We want every student who is interested to have the opportunity to participate!
- Throughout the year, we hope to offer a variety of camps including sports & fitness, the arts, faith based activates, cooking and more!
- Have an idea for a camp? Know a volunteer, coach, artist, or organization that would love to work with our students? We would love to hear from you! Please reach out to Mrs. Williams with your ideas and connections.
Animal Blessing October 7th!
Make plans to bring in your pet for our annual Animal Blessing on October 7th. See flyer for more details. Dogs and cats should be on a leash or in a crate. Please use common sense with the amount of people in attendance and the personality of the animal. All animals will need to be brought home right after the blessing.
Skobels Uniform Store: Logo Issue
Do not purchase any items like shirts, sweatshirts, or sweaters that need to have our logo embroidered on it. It seems that they have sent clothing with a “patch” and not the embroidery we consulted and agreed upon with Skobels. We are in contact with the company and working on a way to fix the issue. This may be sending items back to get it corrected but the office will send out more information hopefully next week. Thank you for your patience as we work on a solution.

Holiday Bazaar Vendor Registrations Open
It is not too late to register. This year’s event will be filled with fun, music and gifts for the whole family. Questions? Email bazaar@assumption.school

Peacemaker Virtue for October- Friendship
In our school-wide program called “Virtues in Practice” we will be talking all month long about friendship. Here is how friendship is defined: Friendship is sharing a mutual love that seeks the good of the other. This is very close to how we define Love in our faith- willing the good of the other. However, we can see in this definition, the relationship is identified as reciprocal. The “good’ mutually offered to each other is not just in material form, but also in relational harmony and spiritual support (CCC 1939-1942). We are a good friend when we seek to diffuse tensions, serve each other where we can, and encourage deeper communion with God. This is also called solidarity.
In Sirach 6:14-17 we read:
“Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter;
whoever finds one finds a treasure.
Faithful friends are beyond price,
no amount can balance their worth.
Faithful friends are life-saving medicine;
those who fear God will find them.
Those who fear the Lord enjoy stable friendship,
for as they are, so will their neighbors be.”
Just as we have learned in our focus on Charity, the heart will always play a role in the way we live out virtue in our lives. Our hearts, when not centered on God, are centered on ourselves. This creates a stumbling block in friendship and a barrier to living in solidarity. But to “fear the Lord” means to be in awe and gaze upon him. When we spend time reverencing and worshiping the Lord, our hearts are changed. Our capacity for stability in our relationships is renewed. When we love God, He provides healing grace so that we can fruitfully love and find friendship with each other.
Saint Question of the Week
New Question of the week: Famous for her autobiography, Story of a Soul, this Saint was a 19th century French saint and a Doctor of the Church. She became a Carmelite nun in 1887 at the age of fifteen, though her life was cut short by tuberculosis at the age of 24. She embodied the power of prayer and, as a result, became a patron saint of missionaries, despite her status as a cloistered nun. Seeing herself as the “little flower of Jesus”, she famously quipped: “I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses.” Those with a devotion to this Saint often report that roses appear when they ask for her intercession or guidance. Her parents, Louis and Zelie Martin, are also saints.
From her book, Story of a Soul” she says: “[Jesus] placed before my eyes the book of nature; I understood that all flowers he created are beautiful. The brilliance of the rose and the whiteness of the lily don’t take away the perfume of the lowly violet or the delightful simplicity of the daisy… I understood that if all the little flowers wanted to be roses, nature would lose its springtime adornment, and the fields would no longer be sprinkled with little flowers… Just as the sun shines at the same time on the tall cedars and on each little flower as if it were the only one on earth, in the same way Our Lord is concerned particularly for every soul as if there were none other like it.”
She is the Patron Saint of the sick, missionaries, and florists.
Please put your answer/guess with your name in the jar by the office bulletin board.
Spirit Team Nominations have arrived!
Students have nominated over 20 of their peers in middle school to join the Spirit Team. The Spirit Team is our new leadership opportunity created to promote ACS Spirit, a sense of school belonging, and engagement in our school events. Teachers will be invited this week to vote for their top three students. Students must be in good standing academically and behaviorally (no behavior reports for the current year on Spirit Team). From those votes, we will invite the top six students to form our team! Stay tuned in the coming week for more info!
