Stay Healthy
Right now, flu levels are the highest we’ve seen in Whatcom Co. this winter. Here are some common-sense things you can do to keep yourself and your family safe.
- Get Your Flu Shot: Getting a yearly flu vaccine is the best protection against flu infection for everyone 6 months or older.
- Wash Your Hands: Keep your hands clean by washing them often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap isn’t available, use hand sanitizer.
- Cover Your Coughs and Sneezes: Use a tissue or your elbow to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Throw away used tissues right away.
- Stay Home If You’re Sick: If you have flu symptoms, stay home to avoid spreading the virus to others. As every parent knows, when one child comes to school sick, it doesn’t take long for it to make the rounds and cause missed school for many others.
- Clean Surfaces Regularly: Disinfect commonly touched surfaces in your home to help stop germs from spreading.
For more information about flu prevention, visit the Whatcom County Health and Community Services website. Prayers for continued health for all ACS families!
Celebrate your last big indulgence before Lent begins next Wednesday by treating your family or co-workers (or both) to a dozen Krispy Kremes! Your Eighth Graders will be selling fresh, glazed Krispy Kreme donuts at drop off starting at 7:40 am on Tuesday, March 4th! This time, we are offering a PRE-ORDER option to guarantee we have enough for everyone, so please check your Wednesday envelope and send the form back ASAP! Details on the form.
You can’t get these delicious treats anywhere north of Seattle anymore, so grab a dozen to take home (or if you’re really good, just one)! Cash and Venmo are preferred, checks written to Assumption. Thank you.
School families will find us at drop off in front of the gym and everyone is welcome to visit the gym entrance on Kentucky St. as well. We’ll be selling until 8:30, then again at NOON unless we run out. Please DO NOT stop in the traffic loop, but park and walk in to get your donut fix!
Co-Curricular Activities

Youth Group News
Hello Middle School Families,
We have Middle School Youth Ministry this Friday, February 28th, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Sacred Heart Hall. Hopefully, the heat will be fixed by then. If it isn’t, we will still have our meeting, but we will be downstairs where the heat works.
For Lent, we will not be having our normal meetings. Instead, we will be moving to a Bible study format. Normally, I would provide all the details for this here, but since we don’t know the exact schedule for the Stations of the Cross yet, I can’t give you the precise start time for our meetings. What I do know is that the Bible study will take place on Fridays, either before or after the Stations of the Cross, and will last about 45 minutes. We will focus on the upcoming Sunday readings to help us dive deeper and get more out of them during Lent.
There will be no snacks or games during this time since we are focusing on the Bible study, but there will be meals after the Stations of the Cross. I believe it will mostly be soup supper this year, but I’m not sure of all the details yet.
I hope to have this information by Friday, but decisions are still pending at a higher level, so I’ll share the details as soon as I know.
Thanks!

Saint of the Week Question:
Answer to last week: St. Peter Damien
He was born in 1007 and orphaned at a young age. With treated like a slave by his older brother. Then he became a Benedictine monk and cardinal who chose to live an austere life. He bravely became a Great Reformer amidst the scandals of the 11th century. Finally, he was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1828.
Emery Shoff is the winner this week and
can come to spin the wheel for a prize!
New Question:
She was a medieval Bohemian princess who chose to live a life of poverty over luxury and comfort.
She was the cousin of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary and friend of Saint Clare of Assisi.
This wonderful saintly woman also founded a hospital and lived her life in a cloistered monastery. Who is she?
