Staffing for 2024-2025

Departing Staff

During this time of the school year, teachers and staff are making decisions about the upcoming year. We like to let families know as we get this information.

Mrs. Eszter Caulfield, our school counselor, will be resigning her position at the end of this school year when her family will likely be moving out of Bellingham. We are grateful for her wonderful service to our students, her deep faith and commitment to Assumption. She has done so much for our community in her short time here.

Mrs. Paige McClurg has submitted her retirement from Assumption after 23 years in the classroom as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher. Mrs. McClurg is loved by her students for many reasons, but she will be missed most for her concern for ALL students and her focus on helping so many learn to read. She said, “I’ve done everything I had wanted to do in my time at Assumption and it is time to move on to the next chapter in my life.”

Mrs. Kerry Thomas officially retired three years ago but she graciously stayed on when we needed her during the COVID split classes and then as the Class of ‘27 remained extra-large. She will really be retiring this year to take time to travel and be with family. Mrs. Thomas has an incredible way of forming relationships with students and preserving dignity in each one. We have been blessed by her gifts these additional three years and wish her all the best in this next stage.

All our outgoing staff members will be truly missed by their colleagues, and we wish them the best in the coming months and years ahead.

To see all the current job openings or share them with friends, please visit Employment Opportunities on the school’s website.

School Commission Discernment 2024-2025

Each year, one third of our School Commission members complete their term and we are looking for new members to join the Commission. We look for people in career fields such as law, real estate, education, finance, and maintenance in order to provide expertise to Mr. Anderson around school-wide decisions. The School Commission meets the third Wednesday of every month, and members of the Commission meet all of their volunteer hour requirements by participating. If you are interested in considering this for the 2024-2025 school year, applications will be due April 11, 2024. Applicants are invited to the School Commission meeting on Wednesday, April 17th. (Include application)

PTC News

Auction Wrap-Up: PTC’s largest fundraiser of the year was last Saturday. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of generosity received from our community and Assumption School families. Our Growing Great Kids Auction and Gala was a wonderful success. As we celebrate our auction’s success, we would like to give a shout out to Dayna Dennis our Development Chair, Veronica Vincent our Décor Lead, and the many helping hands who put this event together. PTC would especially like to thank our Auction Chair, Torry Dechert and Co-Chair, Krissy Abbey, for their exceptional leadership, positivity, and vision. We are grateful to you both for sharing your incredible talents!

Thanks to the work of everyone involved, the gross proceeds from the evening came in at $223,000. In addition to this, we had a $10,000 donation from Jim and Jean Gibson at the end of the evening, and $40,000 in anonymous donations in the week leading up. The total of $273,000 is the most that our auction has raised in the school’s history! We are thrilled that $79,000 will go for Fund the Need to remodel four of our classrooms this summer. We want to give another shout out to our auctioneer, Jeff Ziels, for his great energy and fun spirit. The evening ended with a full dance floor and the sounds of 90’s hip-hop. What a great event!
