GROWING GREAT KIDS AUCTION NEWS

Get your tickets now for the auction, we’re filling up quickly! If you’re still looking for fundraising hours, we need YOU. There are several roles open to help at the auction, and you do not have to buy a ticket to volunteer at the event. Click the Signup Genius link below to see what is available and the estimated time commitment for each area. One additional area is open – our Dessert Dash Team Lead is retiring and would like to train the next person. If you would like to help in this area, now is a great time to get involved and be ready for next year. We also are looking for a “Night Of Coordinator” – this person handles the general coordination for the evening of the auction and helps keep things running smoothly.

Assumption School “Brand”

We consistently look at our branding and work to update the style guide so that it is current and reflects the culture of our school community. Based on feedback we received and suggestions from students, parents, and staff, we made the decision to update the school’s mascot. This logo will be on all future sports apparel and the middle school hoodies going into the 2024-2025 school year. Go Eagles!

Pick-up Times in the Afternoon

You may have noticed that there is more traffic entering the parking lot in the afternoon. As a reminder, K-4 students should be picked up at 3:05 pm, and middle school students at 3:10 pm. (If you have children across both groups, please come at either time.) This staggers our pick-up traffic and keeps the street clear for neighbors. If you do arrive before 3 pm, thank you for parking and walking in to get your child from his/her sign. Once the first car stops at the gate, other cars begin to line up behind so that also creates more traffic. Thank you for your help with this.

RE-ENROLLMENT

Thank you to the many families who share your love for Assumption with others! Our spring open house was busy last Sunday and in just a few days of accepting applications, we may already have wait lists for several grade levels.

As a current family, you will continue to have priority re-enrollment for next school year through February 28th. If you intend to return next Fall, you must complete your child(ren)’s re-enrollment by then. It will guarantee your spot(s) and save you money- fees go from $275 to $325 on March 1!

Please note that this will be a hard deadline. We want to be fair to the families who have already applied and are waiting to find out if we will have room for them.

Note: Registration fees may be refundable after March 1 if tuition assistance and scholarships are not sufficient to keep tuition affordable.

Please contact Dayna Dennis (ddennis@assumption.school) or Mr. Anderson with any additional questions.

Penny Wars End Friday!!!

Who will win the pizza party?

Playground Angels Needed!

Thank you for supervising the playground!  February Sign up

2nd Grade Blanket Drive ends Friday!

Second grade students are collecting new and gently used blankets for Hope House this year as their service project. Please bring blankets to the office starting Thursday, January 25th through Friday, February 9th.  Thank you for helping the needy and homeless in our community.

State of the School

One parent is required to attend tonight’s meeting at 7pm in the gym.  It is the best way to learn about how our school is doing!  Childcare is available in the library. Lost and found items will be in the gym also for you.  If you cannot make it to tonight’s meeting, then the slideshow will be available tomorrow via email.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office.

Faith Community Scholarships now open

These applications are now available on the school’s website and a paper copy will be coming home in this week’s Wednesday Envelope (Spanish and English versions). If you are a member of the Church of the Assumption, please read Fr. Moore’s digital letter to school families about the process for Faith Community Scholarships. If you belong to one of the other parishes in Whatcom County, please use the FCS application provided for now. If we receive a letter from other parishes with further explanations or a change in the application, we will make these available on the website. These applications are due by March 1, 2024.

Many of you may be waiting to see what tuition assistance you are receiving from the school and/or from the Fulcrum Foundation before you can specify your need from the parishes. Since you will be receiving all this information in the same letter in April, please estimate these amounts based on what your family received in the 2023-2024 school year. (Note: If you are new to the school this year and have applied to the Fulcrum Foundation for the first time, contact the office and we can provide you with the Fulcrum amounts directly as soon as we have that information.)

Faith Community Scholarship applications will be available online at https://school.assumption.org/faith-community-scholarship/

RED, WHITE, and PINK DAY

February 13th, Tuesday, will be a chance to wear your favorite clothes for St. Valentine’s Day.  You may also choose to wear casual uniform on this day. This is because Ash Wednesday this year and St. Valentine’s are on the same day.  The students will need to wear their dress uniforms for Wednesday to Mass.  Mass will be at 12:30pm.  Dismissal is still at 2pm.

“Walking with the Saints” Trivia!

If you think you know who this saint is below, then write your name, grade, and guess on a piece of paper and turn it in to Mrs. King in the office.  This is a great way to learn about saints and their lives. Each saint is unique, just like each one of us.  And maybe one or two saints may inspire you as you grow in your relationship with Christ.
