PTC Connections

THANK YOU, PTC Board for a great year of hard work keeping everything running! It was a pleasure working with all of you. Being on the PTC board was a great experience, pushing me to stay organized and pressing on every day. Stay the course for 23-24!

THANK YOU, event chairs for your dedication to producing quality events for our whole school community to enjoy! This is part of what keeps our families here at ACS. Your hard work does not go unnoticed! Thank you!

Finally, we are always looking for new people to join our team and help make next year’s events equally successful. The PTC is a fun way to get involved, meet other parents, and contribute to the school in a meaningful way. If you have any questions or would simply like to discuss what any of these roles entail, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer.assumption@gmail.com.

Playground Angel gratitude

We are all beyond grateful to the parents and grandparents we consistently counted on to help out as Playground Angels this school year. We realize that work and life schedules don’t allow everyone this option and so appreciate those who sign up for multiple shifts per month or come to our rescue when slots are left vacant. We count on these roles to offer safe recesses, which are so important for growing bodies and minds. Thank you for being true angels!

Welcome to our new staff!

Caitlin Creech has been hired as our full-time first-grade aide for the 2023-2024 school year. Mrs. Creech has been a band director and teacher in Texas and is now moving with her husband to Bellingham this June. We are excited to announce that in her role, Mrs. Creech will also be teaching our first ever Beginning Band Class to 5th and 6th graders starting next year. Look for the sign up in the newsletter today. Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Creech next year!

The Agape Service Week

There are still spots open for this summer’s Agape week for the Assumption/ Sacred Heart youth group. Would you like to be a part of something “life changing”?

Agape Service Project encounters the farmworker community of Whatcom County, facilitates weeklong middle and high school service-immersion, and empowers young adults to be servant leaders. Through service-learning experiences, participants learn about human dignity, issues affecting farmworkers and why we as Catholics are called to serve. Through our food bank, community support and time spent with the migrant families, we have the ultimate goal of building personal relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ. The Assumption and Sacred Heart youth group will be participating in the Agape Service Project 08/06/23-08/10/23. This is for 6th-12th grade. We still have five spots left for this week. There is a link below that will take you to a place to sign up. We need $50.00 from everyone now. The rest of the amount $350.00 will be due before the end of May for a total of $400.00 (Scholarships are available). Please send money to Assumption 2116 Cornwall Ave Bellingham, WA 98225 in care of Daniel Prenosil. Checks may be made out to the Church of the Assumption. If your child would really like to go, but there is a problem financially or you have any questions please contact me  at daniel@assumption.org . Sacred Heart of Jesus is Celebrated in June

A Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

“O most holy heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore you, I love you, and with lively sorrow for my sins I offer you this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to your will. Grant, Good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you.” Amen

Why do we pray to the Sacred Heart of Jesus?

Devotion to Jesus’ Sacred Heart is a celebration of the reign of Christ’s infinite love. Sharing the love of Christ this month might include doing acts of kindness for friends or family members, spending extra time in prayer, or helping someone in need. St. Margaret Mary Alacoque received visions of Jesus asking her to spread devotion to His Sacred Heart in 1673. It is always celebrated now 19 days after Pentecost which this year is June 16th, 2023.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT THIS YEAR.

HAVE A WONDERFUL SUMMER!
