Wednesday Parent Newsletter 2.9.2022

Posted in Wednesday Newsletter

In this week’s news, you’ll find a change to how you’ll receive your news link each week, a reminder to nab your spot at the auction, a reminder to pick up your BBQ dinner orders on Thursday, a notice to look for report cards today, an invitation to our open house next Sunday for you and a friend, how ACS is supporting Sumas Elementary replace their much-needed books, when to expect re-enrollment to be ready and an invite to TONIGHT’s State of the School meeting, a call for Playground Angels all month, this week’s School Mass schedule, and upcoming calendar items. Thanks for reading!

News medium change

Beginning this week, we will be sending the news link via text message rather than through the MailChimp service. Due to many email providers sorting our school news into junk or promotional folders, as well as for user convenience, we think this will be a great solution.

Please keep in mind that you have the option to reply ‘STOP’ to remove your number from receiving texts, but doing so will prevent you from receiving all school communication sent via text. For those parents who prefer to view the news via computer, the most recent Wednesday Parent Newsletter can always found on our school homepage.

Just a reminder that there are ONLY TWO MORE DAYS to buy your tickets for the Growing Great Kids Auction and Gala.  Tickets are selling fast, so grab yours now!  https://charityauction.bid/growinggreatkids2022

Make sure to watch this week’s newsletter video to see the next amazing sneak peek.  The featured LIVE items are ONLY available in-person during our live event on February 26th!

If you are looking for ways to earn fundraising volunteer hours, visit our auction volunteer sign up.  New volunteer roles have been added.  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0c4da9af23a5f49-growing

PTC News

BBQ Take & Bake pick up! If you ordered a delicious dinner for this Thursday, February 10th, please check your email for pick up instructions.

Thank you in advance to our PTC leads and volunteers for all their work to prepare these meals that support our school.

Please watch for a series of texts from the PTC this week. They’ll include volunteer opportunities and timely auction reminders.

Report Cards

First Semester report cards went home in today’s physical envelopes. The Teacher/Principal signature lines on the actual report cards are just a placeholder for the end of the year, so can be disregarded. Report cards will be signed at the end of the school year for promotion to the next grade level. Please sign and return just the envelope to confirm receipt/review. Thank you!

ACS Open House

We will be holding an open house this Sunday, February 13th from 2-4 pm. All current families are encouraged to invite a friend. Student work will be showcased and there will be an interactive scavenger hunt for all! Friends will have an opportunity to meet the teachers and find out what makes our school the best choice for education in Whatcom County. All usual health protocols will apply.

Last week we sent home an invitation meant to be shared. Thank you for helping to spread the word about all that Assumption has to offer!

Book drive for Sumas Elementary

Our students have adopted classes from Sumas to replace so many of their books destroyed in the Fall flooding.

Many thanks to Mrs. Sidhu for compiling a wish list that makes it simple for families to donate! Order a book through the link and it will automatically be removed from the “wanted” list. The default delivery address is the school, but families can also choose to ship to their own house and bring them in. As books arrive, they’ll be added to the bookshelf in our entryway.

Thank you for helping us support another school in our great community!

Re-enrollment Information for 2022-2023 and State of the School TONIGHT

If you are unable to attend the “State of the School” with Mr. Anderson tonight at 7 pm, the slides have been put together in a video here. There is no sound associated with the video. Slides 44-46 (beginning at 5:30 in the video) explain the re-enrollment process through School Admin (our new billing system for the upcoming school year). An email will be coming to all families on Thursday morning with instructions for re-enrollment.  https://vimeo.com/675629880

Future Eagle Introduction

Congratulations to the Smith Family (Benjamin, PreK; Isabella, 3rd; Micah, 8th), who gave us permission to share:

Liam Anstruther Smith was born January 31, 2023 at 12:03pm.  He was 6lbs 8.5oz and 18.5 inches long. He’s at home now and is the light of our life.

Baby Liam appeared beside his dad on February 1st in Whatcom County Superior Court.  Liam wasn’t even 24 hours old before he won his first motion. North County Public Defense will be keeping a close eye on his progress and hopes to welcome him as our newest associate soon!

Playground Angels

WE ARE IN DIRE NEED OF VOLUNTEERS THIS MONTH! Please consider signing up for a recess shift or two. Angels help keep our students safe on the playground, which we are so grateful for and cannot offer recess without. Thank you in advance for your help!
