Four Days of Fun, Competition, and School Spirit
Get ready for the 11th year of Holy Hoops! This exciting ACS tradition brings students, families, alumni, and friends together for basketball, teamwork, sportsmanship, and plenty of school spirit.
Holy Hoops is FREE and open to all Assumption Catholic School students in grades 5–8! Whether you are an experienced player, a beginner, or excited to try something new, there is a place for you on a team.
The tournament will feature a boy’s and girl’s league with mixed-grade teams coached by ACS alumni. Come play, cheer, and be part of the action!

Sign-up forms will be sent home in your Wednesday envelope. Students may register online or complete and return the paper form in yesterday’s envelope.

Parent-Student Handbook for 2026-2027
The updated Parent/Student Handbook will be made available next week, September 24th. Then the signature page will be due September 30th. Thank you for your patience while we update all forms from the office.
Parent/Teacher Communication- IMPORTANT!
- For smooth and quick pickups, parents and teachers are asked to not discuss school or classroom topics during pick up at signs. The smallest discussion most likely will “hold” up the traffic flow. If needed, email the teacher and set up an appointment. Thank you!!
New ACS Spirit Team!
We’re excited to introduce the ACS Spirit Team, a new middle school leadership team created in partnership with the ACS Ambassadors, Mr. Ramos, and Mrs. White!
While Ambassadors serve as formal representatives of the school through leading assemblies, orientations, open houses, and other events, the Spirit Group would focus on energy, enthusiasm, hospitality, belonging, evangelization, and community engagement.
Role of the Spirit Group
Spirit Group members may assist with:
- Increased energy and pep at community events
- Engaging students during assemblies
- Welcoming students and families at school events
- SEL and character-building skits at community meetings
- Supporting Ambassadors during large events
- Encouraging positive school culture and student participation
Members would be selected based on qualities such as:
- Charisma and enthusiasm
- Positive peer influence, can connect with a wide variety of students
- Hospitality and friendliness
- Responsibility and reliability
- Servant leadership qualities
- School pride
- Ability to accept direction and feedback
- Reverence and faithfulness
This new team provides another way for students to lead, serve, and make a positive impact on campus. If you know someone who would make a great Spirit Team member, please fill out nomination forms found in the Wednesday envelope this week, or send your idea to Mrs. White via email kwhite@assumption.school.
Animal Blessing October 7th!
Make plans to bring in your pet for our annual Animal Blessing on October 7th. See flyer for more details. Dogs and cats should be on a leash or in a crate. Please use common sense with the amount of people in attendance and the personality of the animal. All animals will need to be brought home right after the blessing.

School Mass Schedule for the month
- This Thursday, September 17th, Ms. Zech’s seventh grade class were leaders at Mass. All of us attended a beautiful mass with Fr. Tyler and our school choir. Mass was held in the gym due to construction. Parents and parishioners were so wonderful and flexible as we celebrated mass in the gym.

This is a great opportunity for middle school students to grow in their faith with other young people. It can be a weekly or twice-a-month opportunity in addition to BLAST.
Can’t make Wednesdays? Your child can still have a Bible study!
If your child and their friends have a group that would like to meet at another time, find adults who are willing to lead the group and send them my way. I can train them and provide the resources they need to lead a Bible study. We are using YDisciple, and I can give trained leaders access to those resources.

Peacemaker Virtue for September- Charity
ACS is now using a new program called “Virtues in Practice” to help us live into our peacemaker virtues each month. This year will be a year of charity; this theme will help us to strengthen our ACS community. Every month will be a new virtue that points to the theme. This month we begin by talking about charity itself and how to live out charity every day.
Charity means loving God with all your heart, mind, and strength and loving your neighbor as yourself. In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus gives us The Great Commandment:
“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Loving God first and loving each other is the way Jesus guides us to live as Christians. This is what it means to live the virtue of Charity.
A test for examining how we are living out charity is to look at how we treat each other. Not just looking at how we treat our friends, but also those we disagree with or who can’t give us anything in return. If our hearts are truly open to God, they will be open to everyone.

New Question of the week: This amazing Saint was a Capuchin friar, priest, and mystic who lived in Italy until his death in 1967. He is remembered for his charity and piety, as well as his ability to levitate and bilocate. He is also one of few stigmatics in the Church. After seeing a vision of Jesus on September 20, 1918, He found the stigmata on his hands, feet, and side. After this, people came by the hundreds to see him. Due to his declining health, he rarely left the friary and spent his time hearing confessions and blessing the sick. He was canonized by Pope Saint John Paul II in 2002.
He is the Patron of Civil Defense Volunteers, stress relief, and adolescents.
