Letter From the Principal- November 17th, 2025

Holiday Greetings, Assumption Families and Staff!

I hope this message finds each of you anticipating the upcoming holidays full of joy and excitement. As Thanksgiving approaches, I offer my own THANKS to each of you for your overwhelming support and for your commitment to Assumption Catholic School. I am so happy for the days that have already been shared with you and your students. We have had a great opening of school, followed by several great events that promote learning, growth, and leadership.

First, in September we dedicated our first school-wide assembly to our city’s first responders and held an assembly that showcased firefighters and our police officers. On September 29, the students heard from members of both departments on the virtue of courage and service. The firefighters and policeman who were present allowed the students to come and view the fire truck and police car and were encouraged to asked questions about their jobs. At this same assembly, we also introduced our cross-country team and recognized them for their sportsmanship and determination.

In October we celebrated our Holy Hoops participants and celebrated the fact that this event has been an annual event for the past ten years. After a week-long tournament, all teams were recognized, and winning teams were awarded their prizes. The school recognized Lisa Twining for her dedication to this annual event and will be putting up a Holy Hoops Wall in the gym.

Now it’s November and the following events have allowed our students to give back to their community with the assistance of their teachers. On Veterans Day, we honored our veterans with a student-led assembly, and we also held our annual “Human Food Chain” where the students provided food and clothing donations to Hope House. On November 21, Grandparents or Grand Friends Day will be celebrated in the gym with performances by our students and then followed by Mass at 10:30 am. All students will be dismissed at 11:45 am so they can go have lunch with their grandparents or family.

December will have us celebrate the birth of Christ and observing Advent. There will also be a celebration Mass in honor of “La Virgen de Guadalupe” on December 12th. Please be sure to review the Wednesday folders for information on events such as school Masses, Advent prayer services, and of course the annual Christmas program. To paraphrase a very Christmas movie, this is truly “A Wonderful Life”. I wish you all a great holiday season and very successful parent conferences on November 24 and November 25.

Happy Holidays!
