The 42nd Annual Ellen Anderson Fun Run is looking to be a fantastic success. A HUGE thank‑you to all our family volunteers who stepped up to fill every role and helped make the event both exciting and safe for our students.!

Pledge money for our amazing athletes is due to the office by Thursday, May 7th. So far, we’ve raised $11,700 toward our $20,000 goal. This is amazing, but keep those pledges coming! Extra forms are available in the office, or here to print.

Remember: students earn tickets for every pledge they turn in, and four lucky winners will be drawn to receive these special prizes:

🎁 Prize #1: Ultimate Fun & Sensory Bundle!

🎁 Prize #2: Ultimate Movie Night

🎁 Prize #3: Ultimate Slime & Squeeze Pack

🎁 Prize #4: Sweet Treats & Sips Pack

As you can see, 2nd grade is holding a slim lead right now, but highest class earnings could still be anyone’s race!

PTC NEWS

There are openings for vice president and volunteer coordinator to join the Parent Teacher Club executive board for next year. These are critical roles to ensure the success of PTC events, and therefore our fundraising goals are met to help keep tuition lower for every family!

A nomination form was sent home in your Wednesday envelopes. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our PTC President, Rafeeka Kloke (Rafeeka@msn.com )

Each year, the Ellen Anderson Volunteer of the Year Award honors a parent or volunteer who gives their time and talents generously in support of Assumption Catholic School’s mission.

When submitting a nomination, please consider

  • The volunteer consistently goes above and beyond what is expected.
  • Their commitment has been sustained over multiple years.
  • They demonstrate a selfless, generous attitude in all they do.

Nomination forms went out last week and can also be found here. You may also email theoffice@assumption.school with your answers. May 6th is the deadline to submit nominees, and the winner will be announced at the end of school Mass on Friday, May 30th.

The PTC is thrilled to announce the return of the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT)

To bring this beloved story to life, we rely on the support of our amazing parent community. Student supervision during rehearsals and on performance day is essential; it’s what allows our two visiting directors to focus on preparing the entire cast for Saturday’s shows. We truly need your help.

If able, please sign up to volunteer! MCT Volunteers

For questions, reach out to Tresa Mariotto at mariocart85@gmail.com or call/text 3609276098

If you haven’t experienced MCT before, you’re in for something special. It’s an impressive, high‑energy program that brings out the best in our students. Even if your children aren’t participating, consider attending one of Saturday’s performances. It’s a wonderful experience for the whole family.

Peacemaker Virtue for May: Humility

Humility is recognizing our dependence on God and putting others before ourselves.

“He who humbles himself will be exalted” (Lk 18:14)

Humility, as Jesus teaches in Luke 18, is the necessary posture for receiving God’s grace. It is a humble, contrite heart that is justified before God, as shown in the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector. This focus on humility continues as Jesus teaches that only those who are childlike will enter the Kingdom of God. The virtue is then further illustrated by the story of the rich young ruler, whose life long track record of moral obedience could not overcome his reliance on comfort, wealth, and status. He rejects Christ’s invitation to come follow Him and walks away in sadness. The Pharisee and the rich young ruler stumble over the same interior obstacle which is a hidden dependence on themselves rather than God. To live as a Christian, is to humbly acknowledge our continual need for Christ and to learn to pray with sincerity, “Thy will be done.”

Have you ever prayed the Litany of Humility? It’s really difficult and definitely counter-culture! This video of Fr. Gregory Pine explains its intended purpose as a way to help us detach from common dispositions that hold us back from further communion with God and with each other. Please watch:

“All of you, clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for God opposes the proud but bestows favor on the humble. So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you. Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for [someone] to devour.” 1Peter 5:5-8

SAINT QUESTION OF THE WEEK

The feast of this Saint celebrates the dignity of work. We know that this Saint was a carpenter and passed on his skills to Jesus. He serves as an example of the holiness of labor to all those who are employed. Through our own work, God calls us to be examples of holiness to our coworkers and to realize the dignity of all human work. Pope Pius XII added the feast of St.  __________ the Worker in 1955, and Pope John Paul II frequently spoke about the dignity of workers in his homilies on the feast. His feast day is May 1st. Patron Saint of workers.
