And don’t miss one of the most anticipated events of the week —

Parents: We Need Your Help!
This is a great opportunity to support our middle school students as they enjoy friendly competition in a sport they love. Please use the volunteer sign-up link below to secure your spot as soon as possible. CLICK HERE TO VOLUNTEER
⚠️ Safety First!
While we can’t wait to see the stands full of fans, safety is our top priority.
Please remember:
- All students and players must be supervised by a parent or guardian during Holy Hoops.
- There will be no supervisors to watch and monitor students during the tournament.
- For everyone’s safety, students should stay with their parents and avoid playing on the playground or outdoor basketball hoops during games. The parking lot and gym areas can get very busy, and we want to make sure every student stays safe while enjoying the fun!
Let’s make this 10th Anniversary of Holy Hoops a week to remember—filled with teamwork, spirit, and safe, family-friendly fun!

🌟 Student Spotlights Around School and Home 🌟
Keep sending them in to the office to highlight our students who shine. Help us share the exciting things our Assumption Students are doing in and out of the classrooms. You can submit your own child, a friend, or simply a student at the school you have noticed going above and beyond. This can be something on the playground, on the sports field, with their siblings, or celebrating an accomplishment at school. We want to hear it!
Paper forms can be returned to the office or send an email to socialmedia@assumption.school.
***Updated October Calendars 2025***
Please toss out the old calendar and use the new one inside of your family’s Wednesday envelopes. Lots of fun and exciting events are happening and we thought this would help!
Calling Playground Angels!
We continually need helpers on the playground.
Thank you for your help in keeping recess fun and safe!
Middle School Academic Support
Is your middle schooler struggling with understanding a certain concept or needing help catching up? More Tuesday Tutoring sessions have opened! Sessons start at 3:20 pm in Ms. Zech’s room (third floor) and pickup is at 4:00 pm by the office. NEW INFO: We are now asking parents, who are interested in signing up their middle schooler, to first register for EDP by the Monday prior to the Tuesday they wish their child to attend. This provides a safe space for their child to go to in the event that they cannot pick up their child by 4:00 pm. Extra EDP forms can be found in the office. With limited slots, take advantage of this FREE, small group support by signing up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054AAEA92FA4F9C43-58940625-middle
****Tardy Unexcused Notifications*****
As the school year has progressed and we are all getting our routines down, the attendance office and teachers have given warnings to those students that have arrived late without notice to the office.
Starting this week, the “unexcused tardy” notifications have been turned on in our FACTS system. If you child is 5-8th grade, on the third unexcused tardy they will receive a lunch detention. On the sixth unexcused tardy, the student will receive an after school detention. This will be to help all students and parents be aware of how important it is to be on time for class, especially in middle school. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact the office and/or speak to the principal.

ACS Families:New High School Meetings
We will hold two information session for prospective families about the Catholic high school at Assumption. Thank you to Mr. Ramos and Ms. King for coordinating this! The session dates, times, and location are as follows:
- Thursday, Oct. 9, from 6-7 p.m. in the Assumption gym
- Thursday, Nov. 6, from 6-7 p.m. in the Assumption gym
The first one is pretty short-fused: we wanted to have an early-October info session but do not want it interfering with Holy Hoops. However, there will be a second one in early November. You are all invited and there will be announcements in the school bulletin for the entire Assumption community. Any curious grandparents, uncles, aunties, parishioners, or other friends of the school are welcome to come by as well.
As always, you can please contact me directly with any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you and take care!

CONFIRMATION INFORMATION/MEETINGS
English:
Confirmation classes for 7th–12th graders at the Church of the Assumption and Sacred Heart are still open! Every family must schedule a private meeting with Daniel Prenosil before being enrolled. If you already filled out the online registration form, please note that this did not schedule your meeting—you still need to sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040549AAA92FA6FE3-59318306-confirmation. Pay attention to the location, as some meetings are at Assumption and others at Sacred Heart. The mandatory meeting at Sacred Heart on Wednesday, October 29th, 6:15–7:45 PM, is your last chance—after that, registration closes. If you’ve already had your meeting, don’t forget to attend the first class that same night at 6:15 PM at Sacred Heart. Questions? Email Daniel at daniel@assumption.org.
Spanish (conversational):
¿Preguntas? Escriban a Daniel a daniel@assumption.org.
Peacemaker Virtue for October- Charity

This year ACS will be highlighting the monthly peacemaker virtue in our school newsletter so families can follow along in practicing the virtue theme at home. Our virtue for October is Charity with St. Teresa of Calcutta as our inspiration. In Catholicism, charity is defined as the theological virtue by which we love God above all things and our neighbor as ourselves for love of God. It is the highest form of Christian love, expressed through selfless acts and rooted in divine grace.
Here are some ideas for families to live out charity in daily life:
- Pray together – Ask God to grow love and compassion in your hearts. Seek to find a local faith community. Local Parish info- Whatcom Catholic
- Practice Charity in Relationships – Promote forgiveness and reconciliation, speak kindly, share generously, be present with one another, and include those who may feel left out.
- Serve others as a family – Volunteer, visit the sick, or help a neighbor in need.
Participate in a parish service project or connect with local outreach partners:

Living fruitful Charity begins with encountering Christ, is nurtured though faith-filled family life, and then overflows into the world.

NEW SAINT QUESTION OF THE WEEK 10.8.25
This Saint was 15 years old when he died of leukemia in a hospital in Monza, Italy in 2006. He is remembered as a normal, joyful teenager who strived to be the best version of himself, living the ordinary in an extraordinary way. He was generous to the poor of his community, many of whom came to pay their respects at his funeral. His passion for the Eucharist ultimately led to his mother’s conversion.
He used his knowledge of computers and coding to build websites for Catholic organizations. His most popular website was one that listed Eucharistic miracles from around the world based on a catalog he compiled since age 11. He completed the site shortly before his death.
This quote epitomizes the holiness of this Saint in his young life:
“sadness is looking at oneself; happiness is looking at God. Conversion is nothing but a movement of the eyes.” He was canonized a Saint this year and is an inspiration for our generation. Patron Saint of computer programmers and youth.

Hope House Christmas Program
Hope House sponsors 70-80 families each year that need help providing Christmas gifts to their kids. We are looking for a few more people that are willing to sponsor a family in need. If interested, you would be matched up with a family in need and will receive names, ages, clothing sizes, and Christmas wish lists for each kid in the family. You then shop for each kid, picking out one toy item and one clothing item per kid as well as filling up a stocking for each kid. We expect sponsoring families to spend roughly $60-$80 per kid. If this sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, please email April Jordan-Hulsey with how big of a family you are willing to take on. apriljh@ccsww.org
