Prayer Service June 11th
On the last day of school, we celebrated all the students with a prayer service that involved a wonderful “moving up” ceremony as they say goodbye to their current teacher and move to the pews with their next year’s teacher.
We had the chance to say “Thank you” to several teachers and staff that will be retiring and/or moving on to something new.
Finally, Mrs. Evans announced who received the “Dave Grumney and Judy Ziels” Servant of the Year award for 2025. This year we honored Susan Roland as our example of what a “servant of Christ” looks like. She has served us in many roles: liturgy advisor, lector training K-3, choir assistant and as a retired teacher from Assumption School too, she came and substituted many years for us. We will truly miss her presence on campus.
Staffing Updates
As the school year comes to a close, we say a heartfelt goodbye to several beloved members of our teaching and support staff. We thank Mrs. Eusebio, Mr. Rosetta, Mrs. Roland, and Mrs. Alex for their dedication, care, and the many ways they’ve enriched our school community.
We also share that Mrs. Morris will be leaving us as she and her family relocate to Minnesota to be closer to loved ones. While we will miss her deeply, we are excited for the new opportunities that await her and her family.
We are grateful for the time, passion, and love these individuals have shared with our students and staff. We send them off with our warmest wishes and pray that God blesses each of them in the next chapter of their journey.

End-of-Year Update & Looking Ahead
Hello Middle School Families,
Thank you all for a wonderful year! It’s been such a joy to journey with your children through youth ministry this season.
We’re planning a “just-before-summer-ends” event on Saturday, August 23rd. I’ll share more details in July, but for now, please save the date! Our current 5th graders (soon-to-be 6th graders) will be invited as well.
Looking ahead to next year, we’ll be moving middle school youth ministry from Friday nights to Saturday evenings, right after the 5:00 PM Mass at Church of the Assumption. Things will look a little different—more details to come!
Thank you again for a fantastic year. I’m grateful for your continued support and excited for what’s ahead!
With gratitude,
Daniel Prenosil

Please join the St. Joachim Community in celebrating the Feast Day for St. Kateri on July 14th at 5 pm with a mass celebrated by Bishop Elizondo. There will be a Lummi Cultural celebration followed by a potluck dinner and a historical tour. All are welcome to celebrate St. Kateri! We are currently looking for donations of covered tents for the picnic. If you have one that can be used for the picnic, please reach out to Myra at myra@stjosephferndale.org
Month of the Sacred Heart
This month we celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the month of June. The Lord has a burning desire to have us know how much he loves us.
June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Catholic Church. This devotion centers around the image of Jesus’ heart, a symbol of his love and compassion for humanity. The month is traditionally observed with prayers, meditations, and acts of consecration to the Sacred Heart.
The devotion to the Sacred Heart originated in the 17th century after Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. May we all understand the Love of Jesus in our lives.
Saint of the Week Question:
Answer to last week: Who is the patron of students? The answer is ST. Thomas Aquinas but there could have been other answers.
Our final winner is Ellie Williams. She was the only student with the correct answer. I bet she could spin the wheel when she stops by the office with her mom this summer!
Check out the flyer below about saints students could learn about over the summer.

Upcoming calendar items:
June 11th –Early Release @ 11:45am
THE LAST DAY!
MOVING UP CEREMONY @ 10:30AM IN THE CHURCH
SUMMER FAMILY PRAYER
God of wisdom, we thank you for all the gifts you have given us throughout this school year. We praise you for giving us life, for saving us in Christ, and for choosing us to be your people.
As we come to the end of this school year, we voice our gratitude for the good things you have done in us, and we praise you for all who have shared in the work of this school.
We ask that you bless them in your love and give them refreshment and peace. We praise you, God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns forever and ever.
Amen
