Talent Show News

It’s time to invite all your friends and family to come see the Talent Show THIS FRIDAY, May 16th at 6:30 in the gym!  Free admission, there will be refreshments for sale by the rising 7th graders for next year’s DC trip and we have a full lineup of dancers, singers, instrumentalists, gymnastics, tap, taekwondo, skits, and comedy. It will also be streaming live on our school’s Facebook page. Come see our brand-new stage curtains in their debut performance! All performers please come dressed and ready at 6:15pm – 15 minutes prior to opening. Last chance to send a fun fact about yourself to ptc@assumption.school

*Important Notice: This is NOT a drop off event. All students must have a parent present the evening of the show. We want all families to enjoy the show and help us watch the performances in a respectful manner.

Principal For A Day- Thanks

Mrs. Evans would like to thank Caleb Abbey who served as our Principal of the Day on Monday.  Mr. Abbey started the day with heart by praying with the teachers, showing leadership and care for our school community. He took on the important role of selecting and announcing our SOAR Award winners, recognizing students who go above and beyond.

Mr. Abbey also made time to connect with our youngest learners, reading to the preschoolers in the library—a moment they won’t soon forget! He took on lunch recess duty with great responsibility (and a whistle!), helping to keep things running smoothly.

In true Principal Abbey fashion, he reminded us all that “Fun matters!” and generously granted the 5th graders an extra recess to enjoy a bump tournament.

Thank you, Mr. Abbey, for your joyful leadership and for making May 12th a truly memorable day!

Parent Satisfaction Survey

Every year, we invite the school community to participate in the K-8 Parent Satisfaction Survey. This survey helps us better understand the needs of our families and identify areas for improvement. The insights we gain are invaluable for our planning, especially as we welcome Mr. Ramos and provide him with a comprehensive view of the school and community he will be joining.

We encourage all parents to take 10-15 minutes to complete the survey and share your valuable feedback. Your input is crucial in helping us create the best possible environment for our students. Surveys are due by Friday, May 16th.

No Need to Buy a Computer for Next School Year! 🎉

Facilities Corner

Building Blocks – Curtain Call! (Almost)

by Brenna Sebens, Facilities Manager

Exciting news from behind the scenes—literally! A brand-new stage curtain is on its way to Assumption. That’s right, after years of heroic service (and a few wardrobe malfunctions), the old curtain is finally retiring. Cue the applause!  Thank you to the crew that came today right after school to help install before our talent show on Friday.

 BONUS ROUND: BASEMENT ORGANIZERS NEEDED!

Do you dream of neatly labeled bins? Do cluttered shelves make your eye twitch just a little? Then the school basement is calling your name. We’re looking for volunteers to help us bring order to the chaos. Work at your own pace during school hours—no kids, just you and the sweet, sweet satisfaction of a sorted storage space. Consider it productive therapy for that part of your brain that secretly loves organizing.

If you can help in any way (curtain, scaffolding, or basement bliss), please email me, Brenna Sebens, at Brenna@assumption.org. Facilities Volunteer work may not be glamorous, but hey—someone’s gotta make sure the curtain rises and find the Christmas lights from 1998.

St. Joachim Mass time Change

As a reminder, the St. Joachim Mass time was changed from 6:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursdays to better accommodate the community’s needs. This change occurred in March. We encourage all parishioners to look at the Mass schedule at whatcomcatholic.org. The priest’s schedule is updated every Monday by 9 am and will be continually updated throughout the week; therefore, please do not print the schedule out as it could be subject to change. If you would like to schedule a meeting with a priest, please email: priests@whatcomcatholic.org
