Catholic Schools Week 2025
Please refer to the calendar in your Wednesday envelopes for all our upcoming events during this busy and exciting week!
WALK WITH US!
As part of our Catholic Schools Week celebration, we are seeking parent volunteers from each class to assist teachers in supervising students during our outreach to our Sunnyland neighbors (walking). This is a valuable opportunity for us to teach our students the importance of celebrating and giving back to their community.
If you are available to arrive early for pick-up at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, January 29th, to provide additional safety oversight, please contact theoffice@assumption.school. Thank you for your support!
THANK YOU, ASSUMPTION COMMUNITY & SUPPORTERS!
We are so excited to announce that we exceeded our goal for the Bright Futures Annual Fund this week! Our teachers and staff sincerely appreciate the strong support from our community. Meeting this goal allows us to stay within our budget while continuing to grow our music program, providing additional reading support in the lower grades, and employing teacher aides to maximize the number of students we can serve. Most importantly, this achievement ensures that we remain affordable and accessible to everyone who seeks a Catholic education.
Thank you for your contribution to enhancing our students’ experience and for supporting our mission to help your children reach their potential, achieve a strong faith in God, and go forth to make a lasting difference in the world!

Middle School had a great day with their winter sports! Here are a few reminders:
- Students should ski at their level.
- Students should be with a buddy at ALL times at the ski area.
- Please send a packed lunch with your students (and preferably chaperones too). They will not be allowed to buy food at the ski area and sports arena.

Youth Group News
Hello Middle School Families,
We have youth group this Friday, January 17th, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Sacred Heart Hall (our usual time and place).
Our topic for the evening will be “One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.”
This Sunday, January 19th, the youth group will be hosting coffee and doughnuts at Sacred Heart after both the 8:30 AM Mass and the 11:00 AM Mass. I ask all middle and high school students to come to the doughnut table at the beginning of the final song at Mass to help distribute coffee and doughnuts, greet parishioners with a smile, and enjoy time together while serving our community.
Please note that we will not have youth group the following week on Friday, January 24th. We will resume youth group on Friday, January 31st.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. Wishing you all a wonderful week!
Thanks,
Daniel Prenosil
Mass Friday, January 17th/Spanish
On Friday, Mrs. Anna Wittmershaus’s Spanish students will be leading parts of the Mass. All are invited to attend Mass at 8:15am. Dress uniform required.
Our altar servers are Maggie Harbick, Valerie Millard and Charlotte Rodrigues-Stiff.
Please remind them to come to the church by 8:00am or earlier.
Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are Miss Copeland as H2 and Mrs. Eusebio with Sebastian Benyi at H3.
Let’s Celebrate Mothers!
Assumption School moms are invited to this special event to celebrate FOUR of our teachers welcoming new babies in February and May. This is a women’s community event yet babes in arms are welcome. Please leave school age children at home. Click below to find out more information. Or email Emily Hoza at emhoza@gmail.com.
GIFTS ARE OPTIONAL! If you would like to give a gift, however, please follow the instructions below:
If you have planned a particular gift that you would like to give to *all four* moms, you are welcome to bring those with you to the shower.
If you would like to give a registry gift, please select the option for home delivery. This will keep gift opening from being overwhelming or unequal, since we have so many moms to celebrate! Click on the teacher’s name below for her registry information.
Alternatively, you are welcome to Venmo me (@Nic-and-Emily_Hoza, attn: baby fund) – I will split any donations received evenly into gift cards for our moms of honor.
Catholic Daughters Education Contest
For any students in grades 4-8th that are working on a poem or art project at home, please remember to submit the entry to the office with Mrs. King by January 24th.
There are entry forms in the office if you need one. Thank you.
Saint of the Week Question
Answer to last week: St. Andre Bessette
“It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.”
He was a porter and lay brother in Montreal, Quebec from 1872-1937.
He miraculously healed thousands through the intercession of Saint Joseph. Today, more than two million pilgrims come to visit his oratory every year.
Emma Perrin is the winner this week and can come to spin the wheel for a prize!
New Question: She was the French founder of the Congregation of Notre Dame of Montreal, Canada. During a procession for Our Lady, she sought to give herself fully to God. Despite her poor health, she devoted her life to educating young girls, natives and the poor.
Who is this wonderful saint?
**Please submit your answer by the office near the Disciple bulletin board.
