Curriculum Night

Curriculum Night will be next Wednesday, Sept. 15th at 6:30 pm through Zoom. You will receive a Zoom invite from each of your child’s classroom teachers directly, but we’ve also put most of them into this attached schedule (and will email again next Wednesday).

There will be three presentations for each of the homeroom grade levels (grades K-5) so that if you can’t make the first one (because you have multiple siblings), you can join a later one. The middle school schedule is a little bit different based on teacher availability and the fact that homeroom teachers teach multiple grade levels. Please review the attached schedule and contact the office or the teachers directly if there are any questions.

COVID-19 Reopening Guidelines for the 2021-2022 School Year

Please see the attached document “Health Protocols- All Revisions 2021-2022” and some changes in language regarding our protocols that were originally sent in the August 25th Wednesday Newsletter. This revised document includes information about vaccination requirements for volunteer “workers” and a small change to the mask requirements during drop-off and pick-up.

Thank you to families who provided feedback and asked for clarification in this document. It continues to be dynamic as we receive different recommendations from the CDC, mandates from the Department of Health, or requirements from the Archdiocese. We are aware that some families hope we keep with a mask requirement and distancing throughout the school year, but others are ready to move past these things right away (and many families are somewhere in the middle). It may seem that some of our current policies are stricter than what the CDC or WA DOH is requiring, this might be because we are also adhering to the recommendations from the Archdiocese. Per a parent request, we have highlighted the document in red to show the difference between requirements and recommendations, and whether it has come from the CDC, the WA DOH, the Archdiocese, or from the school only.

Playground Angels

We have an ongoing need to keep these safety positions filled. There are no volunteers for tomorrow’s (Thurs, 9/9) lunch recesses at the moment, so please sign up if you can!

September Playground Angels Sign-up

October Playground Angels Sign-up

Water bottles

Please remember to send your child(ren) to school with a water bottle. We have two filtered fountains for chilled refills, but the spout for mouth drinking will remain disabled due to COVID protocol.

FACTS Family Portal

If you are new to the school OR have a Sixth Grader this year, we want to help you access family information and middle school grades/assignments via the FACTS Student Information System! Please see the flyer in the physical envelope that came home with your child today for information on how you can create an account.

  • The directions for all parents explain how you can create a profile to view and make changes to your personal information (those with middle school children can also access grades and assignments)
  • The directions for middle school students explain logging in to their own accounts to track grades, assignments, etc.

Please call or email the office if you have any technical difficulties logging in!

Volunteer considerations

Due to the new vaccine requirement for volunteers, we will do our best to give preference for work at home or after-hours volunteer opportunities to parents who are not vaccinated. Please let us know if you want to be considered for this. If you have questions about this information, please call the school or email Mrs. Dennis: ddennis@school.assumption.org

EDP Staff Needed!

We are looking for qualified college students or other child care professionals who want to work with children and have the flexibility in their schedules to work from 3 pm to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. Ms. McIntosh and Ms. Brumfield will be our permanent EDP staff this year, but we need at least two more employees to make it run. Please get the word out and let people know that Assumption is hiring for these positions. Thank you!

Summer Reading forms- LAST CALL!

If your child(ren) met the summer reading requirement for their grade level, please fill out and return the confirmation form on the back page of the “Summer Reading List K-8″ by Thursday (tomorrow). If you don’t have your copy handy, extra forms can be found here.

Students who return their completed forms will receive a celebratory treat at lunchtime on Friday, August 10th!

Note from Miss McIntosh

Welcome back to school! I have loved meeting all the students in PE. I need your help! I need photos of our ACS students moving their body and being active. Whether it’s in a sport like cross country or football or just going for a hike or biking around the neighborhood. I would appreciate it if you could send pictures of your children being active to Miss McIntosh either printed or via email (amcintosh@school.asssumption.org). I will accept pictures all year! So, when you start to learn a new activity or do a new sport, share with me so I can update our PE bulletin boards.

Scrip Office Grand Re-Opening

We’re happy to report a return to regular Scrip selling hours on campus! Hours will be posted as soon as a team of sellers is assembled. If you’re interested in selling scrip at either school drop off or pick up times, please sign up or contact our Scrip Coordinator, Tam Bratt: sparklingstar81@hotmail.com

School Mass this Friday

This Friday, Sept. 10th, grades 2-5 will go to the church for Mass. Parents are welcome to attend the weeks that their children are attending, and community members are also welcome to Friday School Masses. We ask that visitors sit in the north and south transepts instead of with the students. Masks are required of everyone, regardless of vaccination status.

Parent-Student Handbook

The Office of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Seattle has required all schools to use a standard format for the Family Handbook. You’ll notice that this year’s handbook is much more comprehensive than last year’s and includes a number of policies and procedures that are additions. We apologize, in advance, for the legal language and the overall strict tone of this new document, but it is something that all families will need to review and sign. This is posted to the website , so please review it and sign the paper form included in last week’s Wednesday Envelope.
