Dear Families,

Another great week! We survived the hint of snow a few times this week!

On Friday of next week, our students will be in charge of the Mass. Thank you to families that are supporting their children on their speaking parts!

Academics

Religion – Fourth Grade Theologians learned about the Incarnation. Jesus is the embodiment of both the fully Divine and fully Human. Fr. Stephen came in and talked with us on Wednesday as well.
Language – We are having fun diving into Shiloh as a full class, discussing vocabulary and the nuances of this great book! Spelling focused on Unit 23 which was on two or three syllable words with open and closed syllables. For writing, we are beginning the process of learning a five-paragraph essay. We brainstormed on Wednesday and are trying to organize our thoughts on what kind of animal makes the “best pet.” We began the written book report today as well.
Math – Fourth grade mathematicians finished chapter 9 on equivalent fractions.

Science – These scientists learned about energy by engineering a model for an amusement park ride. Ask them about it!

Social Studies – We worked on a timeline for how Washington became a state.

Specialists

Art – This week in art, students focused on balance in their compositions, arranging shapes, lines, and elements to create a harmonious and visually pleasing design.

Spanish –  They started learning to make sentences using, quién, qué y dónde; who, what and where.

Music -This week in music we are…practicing reading TAB notation on the ukulele and deciphering fret numbers to create melodies. We are also playing the singing game Categories to practice steady beat and quick thinking.

Library – This week we read Log Life by Amy Hevron.  Ask your kiddos what a nurse log is and how it helps the forest.  We also thought it was pretty exciting that the author lives in Seattle.  If you saw blank cards come home, we took the time to paint with watercolors different forest scenes; some kids already know who they are going to give their cards to and some are saving them for a rainy day.   To look at the story or other library activities, check out library page.

Saturday, March 13 – Bingo Night! 6:30 Come to the Gym!

Friday, March 20 – Our Mass 8:15

Monday-Wednesday March 23-25 – Accreditation Team is visiting our school!

Tuesday, March 31 – All-day field trip to Museum of Flight – get those permission slips in!
