Dear Families, April 25, 2025

Mrs. Blas has worked hard on organizing Literacy Night tonight at 5-6:30 tonight! Please come!

We finished reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe during lunch this week. I was hoping to show the movie next week. It is rated PG due to some scenes in which Aslan’s army fights the witch’s army. If you are uncomfortable with this for your child, please email. Thank you!

Our class had two opportunities to be with our Pre-K buddies! We were involved with an Easter egg hunt on Wednesday and today they attended Mass with us! They were super leaders!

This month’s project book report has been changed to next week. Students can present their book and their project on Wednesday, April 31st or Thursday, May 1st. The last book report will be due at the end of May or beginning of June. It will be an edible creation.

Religion – Fourth Grade Theologians we celebrated Easter this week! We also prayed for and remembered Pope Francis by watching videos of how much he meant to children. We also discussed what happens during a Conclave.
Language – Writing – We wrote a poem using fun adverbs. Reading – We continued reading books about four pilots: Amelia Earhart, Neil Armstrong and the Wright Brothers. Spelling – Unit 28 suffix -less and -ful.
Math – Fourth grade mathematicians learned about decimals and how they are related to fractions.
Science – Our scientists learned about erosion this week. Today we created a “hillside with rocks” and watched the “erosion” take place! For Earth Day we also had a Trash Sorting into Recycling, Composting, Reusing and Garbage. Students learned how wasteful we all are!

Social Studies – Fourth grade historians focused on what can be done to make Washington by discussing our ideas and reading what has been suggested. We also reviewed for next week’s test.

Specialists

Art – The students practiced drawing a realistic bunny by controlling pencil pressure and applying texture to the fur.

Spanish – ESPAÑOL, 4th –They learned all the different answers for the question:  Cómo estás?

Dear Families, April 18, 2025

What an honor it was to facilitate a Good Friday Retreat with your children! It has been an awesome time to reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice for us. During lunch I have been reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe which has a direct correlation to Jesus crucifixion, death and resurrection. Ask your child about Aslan’s role in the story and comparing him to Jesus. It was a great discussion today!

Religion – Fourth Grade Theologians we studied Holy Week, prayed Stations of the Cross, did art work and had our retreat this week!
Language – Writing – We learned about adverbs and how they help create a “picture” for the reader of writing better. Reading – We began reading books about four pilots: Amelia Earhart, Neil Armstrong and the Wright Brothers. Spelling – Unit 27 suffix -er creating a verb into a noun such as dance to dancer.
Math – Fourth grade mathematicians learned about decimals and how they are related to fractions.
Science – Our scientists learned about erosion this week.

Social Studies – Fourth grade historians focused on what Washington’s government, tribal governments and what are the major parts of Washington’s economy.

Specialists

Art – The students practiced drawing a realistic bunny by controlling pencil pressure and applying texture to the fur.

Spanish – ESPAÑOL, 4th -They learned about Holy Week, “Semana Santa”.

We had a FABULOUS time at the Museum of Flight on Monday! Thank you to all of the drivers and chaperones! Thank you, also, to the Baldwin family for sponsoring the class with all of the simulators! They were a blast!

We continued our week of fun with April Fools and square dancing in PE!

Religion – Fourth Grade Theologians took a test on their last chapter. We also reviewed the Sacrament of Reconciliation. On Thursday, all students had the opportunity to receive the sacrament. Non-Catholics had an opportunity to talk with a priest about their sins.
Language – Writing – Fourth grade writers finished their five-paragraph essay and drew a picture to match it. They are hanging in the hallway now, if you want to read other students “Best Pet” essays. Reading – We concluded the book, Shiloh, focusing and took the final test on it. Spelling – Unit 26 prefixes: dis, un, im, and in.
Math – Fourth grade mathematicians calculated how to multiply fractions.
Science – Our scientists got to go on a great field trip to the Museum of Flight and learn how force and motion is involved with flight!

Social Studies – Fourth grade historians are focusing on what Washington’s transportation.

Specialists

Art – Students explored and practiced line work, pressure control, movement, balance, and spatial awareness to create a realistic drawing of a bunny.

Spanish – ESPAÑOL, 4th – They practiced how to express how they feel.
