Fabulous Fourth Grade Newsletter

Dear Families,

We have finished week two of the MAP testing, and your children did great! There are few that will need to make up some of the tests next week but for the most part, we are done until the spring. (There will be no winter MAP test this year.)

Book reports were very entertaining and other’s got new ideas on what they would like to read. We also finished up on creating our mythical creatures as well as writing

a collaborative story about them. Very creative!

The field trip set for November 30th has been moved to Cornwall Park due to construction at Maritime Heritage Park. There is a new permission slip in today’s Friday Folder due to this. Please fill out the first page and send it back in by next week. Please, also sign up to a chaperone for it, if you would like to, on the permission slip.

I will need math volunteers starting October 10th. I will need parents to run a center in the hall for an hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Here is a Sign Up for volunteers. Thank you for your support!

Dear Families,

We have finished week 1 of the MAP testing, and your children are doing great! They are working diligently. Thank you for the support at home for their appointments at a minimum and good snacks for them for the day. We worked on reading and science this week. Next week, we will be doing the language and the math tests on Tuesday and Thursday. We will probably be doing make-up tests on Wednesday because a lot of people did not finish their science test on this week.

Spanish Una nota de Señora Anna-This week in Spanish we began preparing for Hispanic Heritage Month by singing a song called Senorita Mariposa. We learned about the migration of monarch butterflies from Canada to Mexico each fall. We also began writing in our Spanish journals.

Art – The students created monarch butterflies by folding paper and drawing half of a butterfly wing shape. Next, they opened the paper and applied some paint to one side of the fold. Then, they folded the paper back together and pressed it down with their hands. Afterward, they opened the paper and allowed the paint to dry.
