March, 20026
Dear Families,
Your children did a wonderful job at the Mass today! They spoke smoothly, greeted people cheerily and brought up the gifts marvelously! Thank you for your support on this!
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week is the final step of our Accreditation process with a visit from the outside team. We will be very busy those three days. Thank you for your support and prayers as we finish this major year and a half project for all the staff at ACS. We will be glad when it is over! 🙂
At the end of the week, I will be sending out information for the field trip to the Museum of Flight for March 31st for the drivers/chaperones. Be looking for an email from me then. Thank you!
There is only one more spot for a weekend with Hammy! Sign up for a weekend with Hammy here: Click on this link to sign up!
Blessings,

Academics
Religion – Fourth Grade Theologians practiced the Mass two of the days, learned about St. Basil, and had a meditation for prayer.
Language – We are having fun diving into Shiloh as a full class, discussing vocabulary and the nuances of this great book! Spelling focused on Unit 24 which was reviewing the last five units. For writing, we are beginning the process of learning a five-paragraph essay. We brainstormed on Wednesday and are trying to organize our thoughts on what kind of animal makes the “best pet.” We finished our written book report.
Math – Fourth grade mathematicians worked on chapter 10 for comparing and ordering fractions.
Science – These scientists learned about energy by engineering a model for a roller coaster. They learned about potential energy, transfer energy and collisions.
Social Studies – We worked on a timeline for how Washington became a state.
Specialists
Art – This week in art, 1st graders explored the Baptism of Jesus Christ, learning about important symbols and their meaning in a composition. They also practiced human proportions with a focus on drawing facial expressions to show feelings and tell a story.
Spanish –  We are still practicing forming sentences using who, what, and where, only through speaking. For example: La niña juega con la pelota en el parque. El papá nada en la alberca. -The girl plays with the ball in the park. The dad swims in the pool-.
Music -This week in music we are practicing reading TAB notation and decoding fret numbers to play accurately on the ukulele. We are playing the singing game Song of the Frog to extend vocal range. Finally, we are dancing an Irish jig to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Library – This week we read The Teeny Weeny Unicorn. What a sweet book the help us reflect on ourselves and where we fit into this world…how we are just who we are meant to be.  To look at the story or other library activities, check out library page.
Physical Education – This week in PE we built on our paddle skills by reviewing four different paddle challenges and practicing pickleball forehand and backhand groundstrokes. Students also learned how to serve in pickleball, worked on rallying over the net with a variety of partners, and had a blast playing a game called See Ya!

Monday-Wednesday March 23-25 – Accreditation Team is visiting our school!
Wednesday March 25 – Early release day for Accreditation Report
Tuesday, March 31 – All-day field trip to Museum of Flight – get those permission slips in!
