Fabulous Fourth Grade Newsletter – December 5, 2025 edition

December 5, 2025

Dear Families,

We had such a wonderful week! We started out with a fabulous First Week of Advent prayer service that we led! Your children were fabulous! Later, on Thursday, we LOVED dissecting the salmon and creating the salmon prints! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the parents that helped. It was monumental to the organizing of it and how smoothly it went!

Next week: the Salmon Feast! Come one, Come all to celebrate the culmination of the salmon unit. We will set up around 11:30 and it at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 11, 2025. Sign up here for it!

From Chris Mura (Emma’s grandma and a retired ASC teacher): “The 4th graders will be performing for a class act in the Assumption School Variety Show on Friday, January 30th, 2026.  The 4th graders will be performing a dance routine to the song, “New York New York” by Frank Sinatra.  Top hats have been purchased for all the students.   Each student will need a pair of black pants or leggings and a PLAIN Black tee shirt.  It can be short sleeved or long sleeved.  If you have difficulty with this costume, please call Chris Mura at 360-393-0149 for help.” – Chris Mura

Academics

Religion – Fourth Grade Theologians presented Saint Power Point presentations and learned about the Liturgical Calendar.
Language – We worked on vocabulary and read more of our class book, My Father’s Dragon. Students are enjoying having good discussions about character developments, settings and plot! In Spelling, students reviewed Units 6-11. For writing, they are writing their Salmon story.
Math – Fourth grade mathematicians are beginning the division unit, learning about and analyzing remainders. Please continue to review with your children on their facts!

Science – These scientists are writing about the salmon life cycle as a narrative with the help of Mrs. Mura.

Social Studies – The historians learned about the five geographical and geological regions in Washington.

Specialists

Art – Students studied the principles of design, particularly unity and repetition, and practiced the wax-resist technique to apply these concepts in their work.

Spanish –  We are singing a Christmas Carol (Villancico) named “Arre Borriquito.” They started making oral sentences to express the activities they do after school, for example: “Yo tengo practica de golf”, “Yo hago la tarea”, “Yo tengo clase de natación”.
Physical Education – This week in PE we learned advanced soccer footwork skills, how to dribble the ball with various parts of our foot, shielding the ball from an opponent and passing the ball to a teammate.  We practiced these skills playing Bumper Ball and Soccer Spot Shot.

Monday, December 8 – Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception – 12:30 Mass – Dress Uniform!
