Welcome to Preschool

September 23-27, 2019

Dear Preschool Families:  The preschoolers are working on sitting quietly during large group time. This is especially challenging for them because they are being asked to curb those urges to react naturally. This is the very beginning of important lessons readying them for their school experience. This week we talked a lot about what we can do to be healthy including choosing healthy food over not so healthy food. We also role-played how to line up nicely without getting in front of someone. (I love the look of amazement when they learn they can’t just jump in wherever they want!)  Even though we do play outside in 2 – ½ hour increments, the little ones do get quite tired with all the learning. If you have any questions about your child’s day, please ask.

Dear Preschool Families:  The children continued to work hard at learning the school routine. They love our Schedule Board, which shows exactly where we are during the day and what comes next. They make sure we don’t forget to move the arrow down!

Brushing teeth has added another element to our quiet time tasks. After lunch they now:

  1. Pack up their lunch boxes 2 .Get their towels, blankets and toothbrush and put them on their mat. 3. Fix up their bed by spreading out towel and blanket 4.Brush teeth, use the restroom and wash hands. 5. Put their toothbrush in their cubby. 6. Put lunchbox above their backpacks in the hall. 7. Get rest-time books. 8. Settle for quiet time.

As you can see, that is a daunting list of tasks for your little ones to accomplish. We are proud of each and every one for their efforts! HOMEWORK:  Please practice spelling your child’s name and counting 1-10.
