We have several exciting events and projects underway as we move through the fall season. Please take a moment to review the important updates below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Veterans Day Service Performance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tuesday, November 10 at 2:15 PM<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our band students will be performing as part of the school&#8217;s Veterans Day Service on <strong>Tuesday, November 10, at 2:15 PM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Uniform Reminder<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All band students are asked to wear their <strong>dress uniform<\/strong> for this performance. Please take a few moments ahead of time to make sure uniforms are clean, fit properly, and are ready to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Performing for our veterans is a special honor, and we look forward to helping celebrate and thank those who have served our country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf84 Christmas Program Music<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;Christmas Holiday March&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last Friday, students received their music for <strong>&#8220;Christmas Holiday March,&#8221;<\/strong> which will be the ACS Band&#8217;s featured selection during the <strong>2026 ACS Christmas Program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This piece includes several important musical concepts that we will continue to develop throughout the coming weeks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Steady tempo and rhythmic accuracy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dynamic contrast (playing both softly and loudly when appropriate)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Careful attention to articulations and style markings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Balance within the ensemble<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consistent tone quality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students who begin practicing now will find the music much easier as rehearsals progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfa7 Practice Recordings Available<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To help students prepare, I have created and shared practice recordings. In addition, I have located several professional recordings that provide excellent listening examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These recordings can help students:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hear how their individual part fits into the full ensemble<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop a stronger sense of rhythm and tempo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Become familiar with transitions and challenging sections<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Improve confidence during rehearsals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I encourage students to listen to these recordings regularly, even when they are unable to practice with their instruments. Simply listening actively can make a significant difference in musical growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfba Practice Expectations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consistent practice is one of the most important factors in a student&#8217;s musical success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recommended Practice Schedule<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than one long practice session, students will benefit most from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>10-15 minutes per day for beginning musicians<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>15-20 minutes per day for more experienced musicians<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Several short practice sessions throughout the week<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regular practice helps build both musical skills and confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2705 Practice Tips for Success<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Start Small<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Focus on one difficult section at a time rather than playing the entire piece repeatedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Slow It Down<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a passage is challenging, practice it at a slower tempo first. Accuracy should always come before speed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Count Aloud<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Counting rhythms aloud while tapping the beat can help students understand difficult passages before playing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Listen and Compare<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Listen to the provided recordings, then play along to check tempo, rhythms, and style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Repeat Successes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When students perform a section correctly, repeat it several times to build muscle memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. End with Something Positive<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finish each practice session by playing a favorite section or something that feels successful.
