MUSIC NEWS Week of 2.28-3.4

Kindergarten: This week in music class, students are practicing singing and sequencing with the song Alice The Camel, and playing percussion instruments to the rhythm of the song. They are also using singing and speaking voices, and using non-verbal communication to find partners with the song Hey There Friend.

1st Grade: This week in music class, students are creating new verses to the song When I Was One, playing rhythm patterns on rhythm sticks, and playing a singing game with the song We Are Dancing In The Forest.

2nd Grade: This week in music class, students are playing a chord accompaniment on xylophones to the song I See The Moon. They are also creating variations of the clapping song A Sailor Went to Sea.

3rd Grade: This week in music class, students are completing the first season of the Secret Chicken rhythm decoding game, and practicing a stick tossing pattern with partners to the song Sarasponda. They are also practicing reading sixteenth note rhythm patterns.

4th Grade: This week in music class, students are singing the song Let’s Catch a Rooster with a body percussion pattern. They are also learning about chords and strumming on their ukuleles, and learning to play the C7 and F chords.

Orchestra: This week in Orchestra, students are completing their Playing Test #4 of Lightly Row. They are also working on string transitions with the song Song of the Wind, and working in their Essential Elements books.
