Pre-K: This week, Pre-K students played the rhythm sticks, and used different types of voices (quiet, loud, fast and slow) to speak a poem.
Kindergarten: This week, Kindergarten students used rhythm sticks to keep a steady beat and practiced self control with the song Play and Stop.
1st Grade: This week, 1st grade students learned a new greeting song, and played a steady beat with rhythm sticks to the poem Chop Chop Chippity Chop.
2nd Grade: This week, 2nd grade students labeled rhythms to the song Engine Engine #9, and played the melody on xylophones.
3rd Grade: This week, 3rd grade students sang Plainsies Clapsies using solfege syllables mi, sol and la along with their accompanying hand signs. They continued to practice the Sasha dance.
4th Grade: This week, 4th grade students passed bean bags to a steady beat, learned the action song Chester, and continued to explore tempo and practice note reading on rhythm instruments.
Junior Orchestra: This week, orchestra students are learning play and rest positions on their instruments, the preliminary “bunny” bow hold, and about how to practice effectively at home.
