Our dedicated team\u2014Mrs. Aimee McEathron and Mr. Eli Sherwood\u2014are ready to guide students through a fun and challenging journey in mathematics.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Our program includes two sections each of sixth and seventh grade math. Eighth grade students will be enrolled in either 8th Grade Math or Algebra, depending on their placement.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Class Pages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1\" style=\"color:#249431\"><a href=\"https:\/\/school.assumption.org\/msmath\/6th-math\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1616\">6th Math<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2\" style=\"color:#4667a4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/school.assumption.org\/msmath\/7th-math\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1617\">7th Math<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-purple-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/school.assumption.org\/msmath\/8th-math\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1618\">8th Math<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4\" style=\"color:#f07c00\"><a href=\"https:\/\/school.assumption.org\/msmath\/algebra\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1622\">Algebra<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\"><strong>Available Resources&nbsp;for Extra Help<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Study hall &#8211; meet with Mr. Sherwood and Mrs. McEathron<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extra Practice Page &#8211; page containing extra worksheet and problem sets for students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IXL.com &nbsp;&#8211; individualize practice and learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.khanacademy.org\">www.khanacademy.org<\/a> has videos, practices and quizzes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>POLICIES AND INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>Homework<\/strong><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">All homework is expected to be completed as well as possible, and on time.&nbsp; Homework should always be done in pencil.&nbsp; If a student does not understand how to do a problem, they should do their best.&nbsp; Even an incorrect answer requires mental effort that benefits the student.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mistakes are evidence that we are learning new things.&nbsp;&nbsp;Homework is reviewed together in class and they will have an opportunity to correct mistakes.&nbsp; <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>Late Work <\/strong><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">It is your child\u2019s responsibility to ask for make-up work and notes when they have been absent from class.&nbsp; Adequate time will be allowed for them to do the make-up work.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In general, late work will be accepted but will receive reduced credit.&nbsp; If a student is having difficulty with a topic, they should do their very best to complete the assignment.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<em><strong>At the end of chapters or units, all late homework must be turned in if credit is to be given.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><em><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong>Quizzes and Tests<\/strong><\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Quizzes may be given mid-chapter to assess the understanding of topics. The purpose of quizzes is to check understanding before getting to a test. Quizzes are usually much shorter than tests and target specific standards or skills. The quiz category of the gradebook is broken up into skills and does not list scores of specific quiz assessments. The scores of these quizzes are on a scale from 1-5, and represent the mastery of each specific skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Example: A quiz is given on skills A, B and C. A student demonstrates full fluency on skill A and B, but made a slight mistake on skill C. Since the student\u2019s work was shown, and some understanding was demonstrated, the student receives a 3 for skill C. The student can be re-quizzed on this skill during study hall or recess to try to get a mastery level of 5. In some cases, class time may be used to re-quiz whole groups of students who need to demonstrate mastery on the same skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tests will be given after each chapter\/unit.&nbsp; Special arrangements can be made for absences prior to or on test days.&nbsp; Students will have the opportunity to retake tests if needed.
