The “Support for a Century” Annual Appeal is Assumption’s way of securing our future through our School Foundation and its endowment. An endowment is a fund or group of funds that builds in principal (the corpus or body of initial investment) because that corpus never gets spent. Only the interest on that money is returned to the school to help provide for tuition assistance. We ask each current family to make a $100 minimum donation to the “Support for a Century” Annual Appeal in order to support our school’s future.
In 2017- 18, “Support for a Century” and the Assumption Catholic School Foundation had a goal of $100,000 but it raised $131,000 for the school through three different categories- endowment, technology and operations, and tuition assistance (formerly Adopt a Student).
This year, we have a goal of $120,000, of which $31,000 has already been pledged or donated.
On the pledge card:
- First, the endowment holds the principal amount in savings and only the interest on that money will provide for future years.
- Second, technology and operations is unrestricted. The money could go for any number of needs at the school this year.
- Third is tuition assistance- you can pay one full year’s tuition, half-year or any other amount you designate.
All three options are part of “Support for a Century” which goes to the Assumption School Foundation.
