Fabulous Fourth Grade Newsletter – October 10, 2024 Edition

Dear Families, October 10, 2024

For religion this week, we discussed God’s Plan of Eternal Law which includes Mathematical, Moral and Scientific Laws. Within the Moral Laws, it includes Natural Law and Revealed Law. These are big concepts that we discussed together. On Monday, when it was so nice, we went outside and observed the smallest of God’s Creation (Natural Law), using magnifying glasses. We discussed if God had so much love for paying attention to the smallest of details of Creation, then God can know the hairs on our head and can love each one of us and care for the smallest fears, hopes and dreams that we have! See pictures below.

I will be visiting my son in Missoula this weekend and will be taking a couple of personal days for that next week. Mrs. Mura will be substituting on Monday and Tuesday next week.

A weekend with Pebbles is here at this SignUpGenius.

Blessings,

Paula A. Martin-Zender

Academics

Religion – Fourth Grade Theologians discussed God’s Eternal Law as noted above.
Language – Fourth grade readers are reading our book: My Father’s Dragon. We found the vocabulary words, and we are learning how to write responses to the literature questions. In Spelling, we reviewed Units 1-5 this week. Finally in writing, fourth graders wrote about our mythical creatures that we created both using fiction and information writing.
Math – Mathematicians took chapter two test on adding and substituting. Next week, we will begin long multiplication! Keep practicing facts!
Science – Scientists finished up their collaborative perspective writing this week. The fifth graders evaluated the projects this week. We also are creating our own Watershed in the Maker-Space this week.

Every Wednesday – 2:00 dismissal and casual dress uniform

Friday, October 11 – Staff Retreat day – No school

Monday-Friday, October 14-18 (but not Tuesday) – Holy Hoops! – Limited homework week.

Specialists

Art – Students will create a narrative artwork of a home with lit windows, focusing on line, shape, and texture to tell a story through their art. This lesson encourages imagination and can be adapted to different materials and time limits.

Physical Education – This week in PE we discussed the difference between muscular endurance and strength and the benefits of stretching.  We took the Fitness-gram push-up and flexibility test.
Music – This week in music class we are practicing singing at various tempos and learning a new written rhythm (eighth notes attached to sixteenth notes) and diving back into Recorder Karate.

Spanish –We played a speed game to find the cognate (words that sound similar in English and Spanish) first. Students also read a short story in Spanish using their knowledge of cognates.

Library/Tech – This week we looked at our media use in a typical day/week and discussed how we feel if we use it too much.  We also practiced our typing skills.  https://acschool.edclub.com
