Get Ready! Assumption’s Space Race Fun Run is happening on May 5th!

The FUN RUN packet of information went home in today’s physical envelope. We wanted to make sure you also knew where to find the information digitally in case you wanted to hype the event over Spring Break with your family and friends or just need extra copies.

Our event relies heavily on pledges for laps run so we hope you’ll talk about and share the information with friends and relatives near and far. There are also some sweet prizes for collecting pledges, so start early!

If you know any businesses that might be interested in sponsoring our Fun Run, please feel free to share the sponsorship form with them.

Fun Run volunteers needed

It’s time to get started on making this fun Assumption tradition a great success! The team is currently looking for parents to help collect sponsorships. This effort earns fundraising volunteer hours and can be done from home. If you’re interested in helping, please contact Eloisa Townsend: elmiquiabas@hotmail.com

Fun Run volunteer need/at home project: We are looking for one or two parents that would like to take on an at-home cutting project.  This would count towards fundraising volunteer hours and would be approx. 2-4 hours.  The items are somewhat detailed, so you might need a smaller pair of scissors.  Please email theoffice@assumption.school if you are interested.  This project would be due back Monday, April 11th.

Mother’s Day flower baskets

Please support the class of 2022 by purchasing Mother’s Day Baskets delivered before Mother’s Day (order forms went home again today). Funds raised will support the class spring retreat and graduation. We are excited to partner with Van Wingerden Greenhouse in Blaine again this year. They offer many different varieties of baskets which include full sun and full sun part / shade to fit every need. Pick up early for best selection! If you have questions, please contact Nikki Lockhart at nikanak@comcast.net.

Orders are due this Friday, April 1st. Don’t miss your chance to nab a beautiful basket for a great cause! The class of 2022 thanks you in advance for your support.

School Commission openings

The School Commission is an advisory body to the principal of Assumption Catholic School. The term for a Commission member is three years and there are currently three vacancies for the 2022-2023 school year. The roles include finance, marketing, facilities, strategic planning, and parish liaisons. The Commission meets monthly and will usually have a committee meeting in between the monthly meetings. This is a great way to obtain your required volunteer hours for the year and be a part of long-term planning for the school. If you are interested, please submit a candidate application by email to Mr. Anderson before Monday, April 18th and plan to be at our Commission meeting on Wednesday evening, April 20th starting at 6:30 pm to learn more about how the Commission functions.

Assumption School Foundation openings

The Assumption School Foundation is searching for two board members for the 2022-2023 school year. The Foundation is an endowment that builds for the school’s future. The balance in the endowment is currently over $800,000. The Foundation Board meets every other month to review financials, track gains in the funds, allocate an annual distribution to the school, and ensure that the endowment continues to grow. The Foundation Board also participates in an annual thank you event in May and by reaching out to donors throughout the school year. If you are interested or know someone who might be a good fit, please email Mr. Anderson before April 22nd at danderson@assumption.school.

THANK YOU! Wow ACS- you blew our goal out of the water. We raised over $8,000 during the Kid’s Heart Challenge for our school and the American Heart Association. Students had so much fun last week in PE as they moved through the heart obstacle course to stay active and recited the parts of the heart. First grade and Kindergarten have earned a free PE choice day for the top fundraising class and having the most registered!

Miss McIntosh wants to give a BIG thank you to the top fundraisers in each class who will be turning her into an ice cream sundae:

Lenten Almsgiving

BRING YOUR QUARTERS THIS WEEK! Each week during Lent, we will focus on bringing a different coin to fill our school’s Lenten Almsgiving Jar (this is separate from your family Rice Bowl). You may want to give coins to your child in a small envelope or Ziploc for transporting to their classroom. This week is quarters! This money will be given to the Rice Bowl, which benefits Catholic Relief Services, reaching families all around the world! We will be collecting quarters until we leave for Spring Break.
