Last chance to sign up for Parent-Teacher Conferences!

Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 4th from 12:30 to 7:30 pm and November 5th from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. They will be a combination of Zoom and in-person meetings this year, depending on parent preference. Parents are not required to be vaccinated to schedule an in-person conference. Please click on the link for your child(ren)’s teacher(s). If you prefer a Zoom call, sign up for a slot that is dedicated to a Zoom call. If all of these slots are filled, please sign up for another (in-person) time and note “prefer a Zoom call” in your comment/notes. The teacher will contact you with a link. Conversely, if all in-person conference times are taken, you can sign up for a Zoom time and note your preference for “in-person” instead.

Auction news

Our school’s biggest fundraiser, the Growing Great Kids Auction and Gala, will be held on February 26, 2022. One of the first tasks in planning this amazing event is obtaining items for the auction. This process is called procurement. In this week’s Wednesday envelope, you will find a letter discussing your family’s obligation for procurement, as well as a form for submitting your donated item. Please review the letter and email the Auction Co-Chairs at growinggreatkidsauction@gmail.com if you have any questions!

Tiffany Schuman and Lisa Twining, this year’s Auction Co-Chairs, are seeking artists of any type to help with potential projects. If you are an artist (painting, drawing, glass blowing, woodworking, pottery, etc.) and are willing to share your talents, please let us know by emailing us at growinggreatkidsauction@gmail.com

FREE entry to concert at Assumption Church

Bellingham Chamber Chorale, under the direction of Assumption School’s Choir teacher Dr. Mabalot, is offering FREE entry for ALL Assumption School students to their concerts on Saturday, November 13th at 8PM and Sunday, November 14th at 5PM in Assumption Church. Students must be accompanied by parents who would need to purchase tickets for entry to the concert. Tickets can be purchased here in advance: https://www.bellinghamchamberchorale.org/tickets or available at the door on the day of the concert.

The concert entitled I AM LOVE will present sacred and secular choral music that delves into the various manifestations and expressions of love. The choir has not performed since November 2019, so they have been so inspired and working hard to share the healing power of music to our local community. We hope that you will come and support BCC and Dr. Mabalot. If you have any questions, please email drmabalot@assumption.org.

 HOLY HOOPS 2021!

Many thanks to our event chairperson, Mrs. Lisa Twining, for coordinating the many volunteers, schedules, players and everything else that went into making this such a fun community event!

Don’t miss the 8th Grade Class Poinsettia and Wreath Fundraiser!

The holidays are just around the corner and Monday, November 1st is the deadline to submit order forms! Please help support the 8th grade class by purchasing lovely poinsettias from Vanwingerden Gardens and lush greenery from Sherwood Farms in Lacey for your holiday decor. All proceeds support our 8th grade spring retreat and graduation and will be delivered to the school for pick up. Thank you in advance for supporting the class of 2022!

Help us offer Chess Club this year!

After last year’s brief hiatus, Coach Peter Witecki, who has led our ACS Chess Club for an incredible 25 years, has offered to bring the game back to Assumption students! Before we can figure out details, we need a volunteer in place to chair the club and coordinate/supervise practices, etc. You do NOT have to know the game of chess to perform in this role!

If you’re interested in this position that earns school volunteer hours, please contact Mrs. King for more information re: the duties entailed: aking@school.assumption.org

Volunteers needed this week!

The Development Office is looking for 2-3 parent volunteers for an at-home mailing project.  This would include folding, stuffing envelopes and applying labels.  We need a quick turnaround on these and ask for them to be picked up Thursday and turned in Friday of this week.  Let Shannon Zebrowski know if you have a 1-2 hours available to help this Thursday: szebrowski@school.assumption.org

*These count as fundraising hours.

School Mass this Friday

This Friday, October 29th, grades 2-5 will go to the church for Mass with our Second Graders leading. Parents are welcome to attend the weeks that their children are attending, and community members are also welcome to Friday School Masses. We ask that visitors sit in the north and south transepts instead of with the students. Masks are required of everyone, regardless of vaccination status.

Cross Country SHOUT OUT!

Well, that’s a wrap for the 2021 Cross Country season and what a season it was!

Congratulations to our boys’ team: Alden, Rhys, Taylor, Baynes, Bernardo, Micah, Nicolas, Sam, George, Liam and Jordan for consistently coming in 1st or 2nd place as a team for every meet! We also want to congratulate Taylor for finishing the season undefeated and taking 1st place in all six meets! A huge shout out goes to Liam, Jordan and Nicolas who finished the last race of the season with personal records!

We were so excited to recruit Genevieve, Dahlia, Ngansi, Uma and Stella to form our girls’ team this year and couldn’t be prouder of these young ladies! Our runners left it all out on the trail this season, whether at practice or a race, they gave 110%! Thank you for supporting and encouraging these runners throughout the season. Go Eagles!

We also want to thank our fabulous coaches, Sara Rush, Luciana Powell, and Jennifer Stiff. It’s thanks to our parent volunteers that we were able to have a season. We are so grateful for all they do to support athletics at our school.

Temporary hold on Book Fair

We will not be holding the Scholastic Book Fair this year, either in-person or online. Although we have enjoyed fundraising success using this program in past years, the format is not feasible with the current safety limitations. We’d like to use this opportunity to explore other options to fill our home and school libraries that might also raise funds for our school. We’re looking into several exciting options for the upcoming semester and will keep you posted.

TRUNK OR TREAT!

Please plan to bring your children to the Church of the Assumption Family Ministry’s annual Trunk-or-Treat in the church/school parking loop this Saturday, October 30th, starting at 6:15 pm (after the 5 pm Mass)! We’ll have plenty of candy and some decked-out cars to admire, courtesy of our many parish and school supporters.

Please see the flyer for details. We hope to see you there!
