PTC News

The Fun Run is only a week away!

Next Thursday, May 13th, the students of Assumption will run the 37th Annual Ellen Anderson Fun Run! Please encourage them to keep collecting pledges as every little bit helps. Check out this week’s flyer and volunteer opportunities:

NEW THIS YEAR!  Did you know you can easily share the following PayPal link with family and friends near and far for the Fun Run this year?  It’s an easy way to collect pledges from those who are not local!  There is a note section available for students to get credit for the pledges (first and last names, please!). Please share this and spread the word!!

MultiCultural Meal Success!

The PTC would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to all those who led in the creation of the multi-cultural dinner to-go last week. The dinner was absolutely delicious and the feedback was glowing!  Special thanks to Enriqueta Vazquez, Meryluz Duque, Maria Rodriguez, Jhoanna Antonio, Jessie Lane and Tam Bratt for sharing your recipes, cultural anecdotes, and cooking skills! As always, our kitchen leadership team of Rob Viggers, Lynette Machinski, and Sara Rush was exceptional and we couldn’t have done it without them. Thank you to everyone who helped, purchased, and supported these efforts. The dinner raised nearly $3,000 for the school!

Great Opportunity to Volunteer on YOUR time!

If you are still in need of volunteer hours, we have some great options coming up that can be scheduled around what works for you! Check out some of our Spring projects and sign up quickly!

Please refer to communication from your Room Parents on ways to show your appreciation for our wonderful teachers for the remainder of this week!

  • THURSDAY: Bring a flower to your teacher (together, your class will make a beautiful bouquet)!
  • FRIDAY: Each student brings a small gift or token of appreciation for their teacher OR you may have decided on a class gift.

Health Screener and Playground Angel Volunteers

We’re in the home stretch! Please dig deep and sign up wherever you can. We truly rely on these positions to have our students here safely. Thank you in advance for your support!

Please note: In addition to paring down to two Health Screeners each morning, we’ve restructured our lunch recess times in order to have fewer kids on the playground.  The schedule is:

 11:25-11:55 2nd-4th grade

11:55-12:25 5th-8th grade

12:25-12:55 Kindergarten and First Grade

Please pick two half hour shifts in order to get your full volunteer hour. Thank you!

A reminder that our eighth grade Photography students under Mrs. Evans’s supervision will be taking class pictures outside this Friday.

  • WHEN: Friday, May 7th, 2021 (PK3 class will be on Thursday, May 6th)
  • WHERE: Photos will be taken outside throughout the morning, one class at a time
  • HOW: Students in each cohort will be arranged by their photographer and may take their masks off briefly for the photo

We plan to share digital files of the photos taken with the families of each class, FREE OF CHARGE. If you’re a fan, you’ll be able to order as many prints on your own as you like!

The May crowning of Mary will be celebrated at Mass that morning. All uniformed grades should wear DRESS UNIFORMS. After Mass, 8th Graders may change into free dress for their photo, as is tradition!

Thanks again to Mrs. Evans and her group of shutterbugs for providing this service to our school families!

Welcome, Carver

We want to welcome the newest future Assumption Eagle! Congratulations to the Entrikin family! Andrew and Tia welcomed their fourth baby, Carver Joseph, who was born April 10th at 2:07am weighing 7lb 3oz and 20 in long. His brother Courtland and sisters Cambria and Caoimhe are excited for him to be here. The family is doing well. Big sister, Cambria is a Kindergartner in Mrs. Whelan’s class. Blessings to the family on behalf of Assumption.

Support for the Salcidos

Our Care & Concern Ministry continues to coordinate meals to support the Salcido family. To sign up for a meal, please visit the link here:

Many thanks to the families who have gifted the Salcidos with SCRIP and financial support. Our community continually rallies when one of us is hurting. Please feel free to send items of support for them through the office anytime.

“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”   -Ecclesiastes 4:10

Volunteer of the Year Nominees and Volunteer Appreciation

On May 21st, the teachers and staff would like to recognize all volunteers who have given so much to our school this year. We will also celebrate one volunteer who has gone above and beyond this year and deserves special recognition in the Ellen Anderson Volunteer of the Year Award. If you have people in mind that you would like to receive special recognition or who you would recommend to be honored as the Volunteer of the Year, please fill out the short Microsoft Form attached here no later than this Friday, May 7th. The Volunteer of the Year nominees are suggested by all parents and staff and voted on by the teachers and staff.

Welcome new School Commission Members!

After our discernment meeting in April, the following parents have accepted new roles in the School Commission for the next three years. We are so excited for the breadth of experience in these four new members and thrilled that they all have young children this year, bringing new perspectives and fresh ideas to the group. Thank you to outgoing Commission members: Tara, Meryluz, Mike, and Matt, for their service these past three years and whose lights will continue burning thanks to the following:

Amy Sheng (Jason in Kindergarten), Andrew Entrikin (Cambria in Kindergarten), Matthew Miller (Camila in Kindergarten), and Jessie Lane (Koda in Kindergarten, Luz in fourth grade)
