State of the School follow-up
Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the State of the School Zoom call on February 10th. If you missed the presentation, the Zoom recording is located below with the access passcode.
Two things Mr. Anderson would like to correct regarding the presentation:
- He shared three slides showing the school’s revenue, expenses, and a deficit/surplus. He mistakenly stated that the school has a $16,300 budgeted deficit this year (shortage of funds), but the school actually has that amount projected in surplus for 2020-2021. This is good news! Please note that this surplus number is just a budget number based on what was projected in August. It will likely change based on the need for additional substitutes in the second semester of this school year (which weren’t budgeted for).
- Mr. Anderson also stated that the $250 registration credit for referring families can be applied to next year’s tuition for families. Since that credit needs to be realized on the current year’s financials, the $250 registration credit will be given towards tuition in the current school year. (For example, if you referred a family for the 2020-2021 school year and that family remained enrolled from September through December of 2020, you will see a $250 tuition credit on your March 2021 statement.) The newly enrolled family is responsible for providing the name of the family who referred them to Angie King before March 1st if it wasn’t written on your enrollment form.

SNEAK PEEK #2
Health Screener and Playground Angel Volunteers
Please help us fill in several open morning Health Screener slots for February and get a jump on March! Check out the link for responsibilities and openings. Please note we’ve added a spot for help with duty for the morning recess from 9:45-10:15 am. You can earn one full volunteer hour for only working these 30 minutes. Thanks for your help.
We are so grateful for the support Health Screeners and Playground Angels bring to our students and Duty Teachers. Please keep in mind that we count on these safety roles when you sign up, and last-minute deletions send us scrambling for help. If you must cancel a sign up, please email Jessica Sidhu at firstname.lastname@example.org so she can try to find a replacement volunteer.
Mrs. Johnson really needs our help to gather enough special photos to provide a meaningful yearbook for families this year!
Photos do not necessarily need to be school-related. Please see the attached flyer for guidelines and how to share. Thank you!
Friday, February 19th
We will celebrate our middle school Honor Roll and Principal’s Honors recipients at this week’s school Mass! 6th-8th grade students should plan to wear their dress uniform. Parents of children in participating grades are also welcome to attend/sit with them. Only students attending Mass in person need to wear dress uniforms, and regular uniforms for all other grades.
VFW Art Contest
Please see the attached form for the Illustrating America: An art contest for students in grades K-8. Mrs. Santos will be promoting this in all of her art classes, but we encourage parents to talk with their children about this as well. Prizes are awarded for K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 grade levels, up to $100 in gift cards for the winning entries.
The following letter from the Archdiocese refers to the The Matthew Project: Phase 1! Phase one of this project is to gather data about our current practices in meeting diverse learners’ needs. As part of this process, they are seeking the perspectives of teachers, parents and school administrators to help develop a comprehensive picture of our current practices. This multiphase project aims to use baseline data to develop a systemic plan or roadmap to advance efforts in meeting the needs of diverse learners over the next 3-5 years for Catholic schools.

Chinese New Year
Mrs. Santos educated her Art students about Chinese New Year earlier this month. Fourth graders learned beautiful holiday customs and made festive dragons, working as a team to make them come “alive”. Enjoy the terrific short video she made of their work!
Lenten Mother’s Group
School parent Emily Hoza (mom to Katrina and Carson) will be facilitating a small group for moms over Zoom, every Saturday during Lent, from 9:00-10:30 AM. Discussion will be based on the devotional book “No Unlikely Saints”. If you are interested, please email Emily (email@example.com) for more information!
School COVID guidelines for travel
If you are traveling out of state for any reason, please know that your children will need to quarantine for seven days starting from the day of your return before returning to school. They will also be required to have a COVID test on Day 6 of the quarantine and a negative result before returning. If you are traveling out of the country, a 14-day quarantine period and negative test are required to return to school.
Join our school community- and more than 14,000 Catholic communities across the United States- in a life-changing Lenten journey of encounter with CRS Rice Bowl. Your family’s CRS Rice Bowl is included in this week’s envelope. Look for weekly reflections throughout Lent. During the 40 days of Lent, as companions on the journey, we will encounter our neighbor.
