Drop Off on Rainy Days
Going forward, on windy/rainy mornings, please have your child exit your vehicle and connect with a Health Screener under the covered area in front of the gym. As usual, please wait in your car until receiving the thumbs-up from the screener before driving away. We hope this helps keep our students (and parent volunteers) a little warmer and drier! In order to expedite the process and move cars quickly through the line every day, please have your child’s items ready to go so that they can exit the car quickly and keep the line moving. Thank you!
Thanks to our Principal of the Day, Kyle Cramer, all students received a free dress for Thursday, October 15th. Please remember the free dress expectations, (especially regarding leggings for girls in the upper grades) found on our website. Eighth graders will have Free Dress on Monday, Oct. 19th since they are not at school on Thursday.
2020-21 Family Directories
This week’s physical envelope contains updated directories for the new year (8th Grade received on Tues, 7th will receive on Thurs). Please note that we purposely didn’t print the Parent-Student Handbook in an effort to save paper and because it’s available anytime on our website. Let us know if you have any questions!
Manuel Salcido and his girls asked us to express that they are very grateful to the school community for the support they’ve been shown these past few weeks. They are in a good spirits and ask for our continued prayers for Dora as she begins her next round of treatment in early November.
Health Screener and Playground Angel Volunteers
We have an ongoing need to keep these positions filled. Please check out the link for responsibilities and openings.
Please note that we now have three recesses for students to accommodate extra, smaller classes, and two Playground Angel shifts from either 11:00 – 12:00 or 11:30 – 12:30.
We are so grateful for your support to bring your children back to school as safely as possible! For volunteering questions, please contact our PTC Volunteer Coordinator, Jessica Sidhu: firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
4th Grade Pet Drive
Our Fabulous Fourth Graders have extended their Annual Pet Care Drive collection through Friday, October 16th. Please see the flyer for needed items. Thank you for supporting this class with their service project and the Whatcom Humane Society!
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday, November 5th and all day on Friday, November 6th. Instead of in-person conferences, these will be scheduled Zoom calls with parents. For classes that have large numbers, teachers may be scheduling a few conferences before and after these dates in order to accommodate their teaching schedules and give families enough time. By next week, we will send out a Sign-Up Genius link for each of the grade levels and each specialist teacher, so please sign up for the most convenient times. Individual reports for MAP Testing (Grs. 2-8 only) will be coming in the Wednesday Envelope on Nov. 4th so that you will have that information in advance of the conference.
October Fitness Challenge Update!
We are halfway through our 30-day fitness challenge and I hope all students have had the time to participate to the best of their ability. In the original challenge request, I ask that students don’t go back to complete a day that was missed; however, I know that some days are more difficult than others. So, if students missed a day and still wants to try and complete the challenge, I will allow and encourage students to use their rest days as a make-up a day.
It was been such a pleasure, seeing and hearing about students completing the daily fitness challenges. I have seen many of the students complete the activity in class or out at recess. I have also had students send pictures of them completing the challenge at home. Keep up the hard work!
As a reminder, I will be collecting all the calendar/log sheets the week of November 2nd – 6th to see which students completed the October challenge.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com
Physical Education Teacher
Trunk or Treat, Keep 6 Feet!
Assumption Family Ministry needs YOU on Halloween (Saturday, October 31st)! Our parish and school communities are filled with children in desperate need of fun, treats, and some sense of normalcy on this most loved of all “kid” holidays.
We are coordinating a socially-distant, drive thru Trunk or Treat this year and are looking for families willing to open their trunks and pass out candy (decorated tables are also an option)! Masks will be worn by all participants and volunteers will be in place to ensure everyone follows health protocols. Treats will be distributed safely without direct contact as well.
If you can commit to passing out candy at this event, please follow the link to sign up and for a few more details: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090B4EADA92EABFC1-assumptions
Thank you in advance for helping us make this idea a reality for the children of our Assumption community!
Share your photos!
The office is collecting images of our students (preferably in uniform) without their masks to put on display in the entryway. We have many new friends who would love to see the smiles underneath as a way of getting to know each other!
Please just be sure your mask-less photos are taken under safe conditions: at home with family members or socially distanced outside. Please send them to Mrs. Dennis: firstname.lastname@example.org

This Thursday, October 15th, Mrs. Sara Rush will be outside selling Scrip from 1:40 to 2:15 in front of the Scrip office (look for the sign).
