Health Screener and Playground Angel Volunteers

We have an ongoing need to keep these positions filled.  Please check out the link for responsibilities and openings.

OCTOBER: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4CA5AA23A1FEC25-october

Please note that we now have three recess shifts to accommodate extra, smaller classes, so the Playground Angel shifts are either 11:00 – 12:00 or 11:30 – 12:30.

We are so grateful for your support to bring your children back to school as safely as possible!   For volunteering questions, please contact our PTC Volunteer Coordinator, Jessica Sidhu: volunteer.assumption@gmail.com. Thank you!

Doubt Means Don’t

Even with our protocols, it’s possible that children come into the school with symptoms. Please remember to be clear and open with us during the health screenings and remind your children to be honest with the health checkers. If you’re at all unsure of your child’s wellness in the morning before leaving for school, err on the side of caution and keep him/her home. It’s how we will be allowed to stay open and stay healthy.

Please note that in the event a student displays COVID symptoms, just that child’s cohort (and those of their siblings) will receive initial information from the school.  If the student(s) subsequently test positive for the virus, the school will immediately notify all school families in PS through 8th grades and communicate next steps per the Whatcom County Health Department.

Pick-up Procedures

Originally, we asked parents not to park and walk into the traffic loop. Since the drive-through pick-up is taking a long time, we’ve changed this protocol to allow for families to park first. Please wear a mask when coming in to pick up your child at their sign and avoid gathering with other families.

School Mass on Friday, September 11th

3rd, 4th and 5th grade students should plan to wear their dress uniform this Friday for School Mass.  Only students attending Mass in person need to wear dress uniforms; regular uniforms for all other grades.

Summer Reading Challenge treat!

At the 2019-20 final material pick up event on June 3rd, Mr. Anderson shared a letter and Summer Reading Log with all ACS students (found here (grades K-2) or (grades 3-8) if you’re new to Assumption or lost yours!).

Students should bring back their reading logs this Friday, Sept. 11th for a chance to win a $5 gift card and to receive their ice cream reward on the way out to lunch recess. We’ll have fudge bars and twin pops for those who can’t have ice cream.

Seventh and Eighth Grade Families– Confirmation

On Friday, September 11, 6pm-7pm in the Assumption Gym there will be a Confirmation info meeting for all incoming 7th-12th graders who wish to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation (receiving in spring 2021) Wear a mask and bring your own chair if you’d like to sit. ONE parent only plus the Confirmation candidate – please don’t bring extra guests as we are limited on how many people we can have. Contact April Jordan-Hulsey with questions or to RSVP: aprilj@assumption.org

WANTED: Your Photos for the Yearbook!

Please see the attached flyer for info on sharing your personal photos with our very talented Staci Johnson.  She’ll need lots of help capturing your child’s special moments for our 2020-21 yearbook!
