Mental Health Awareness this Friday, May 15th 

Thank you to Mrs. Campbell for putting together activities for this Friday. In order to promote Mental Health Awareness for the month of May, teachers will not be assigning work for this Friday. Instead, we encourage you to follow the activities and ideas from Mrs. Campbell (and the staff) to promote healthy living and your well-being. Use the pdf attached as a guide and put your reflections and photos into our Google Drive so that we can see the results (link in attached). 



We love that our Assumption families support each other’s businesses and restaurants, especially during these past two months.  We truly have an extraordinary community! 

We wanted to pass on an opportunity shared with us to support Sabores de Mexico restaurant with the purchase of tamales this week.  If you’ve never had a tamale made by Enriqueta Magana (Tony, 7th grade), you don’t know what you’re missing! 

Sabores is offering assorted filling flavors for $20/dozen and the deadline to order is this Saturday at noon. See the linked order form for all other details.

Help us by referring new families 

Thank you to so many of you who are actively sharing our story referring your friends to Assumption. We are offering a special promotion for families who enroll for 2020-2021 if they want to be involved in our distance learning program for the remainder of the current school year. The following announcement is going in parish bulletins the next two weekends, and you are welcome to share it with your friends, as well. 

Assumption Catholic School is now accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year. Parents can access a virtual tour on the school’s website ( to get a feel for the classrooms and programs offered. On-campus tours will likely be available starting from July 10th based on the governor’s mandates. Note: If a family chooses to enroll for the 2020-2021 school year, the child may be able to benefit from the distance learning program at Assumption in the final 4-5 weeks of the school year for a discounted tuition rate and receive recommendations for summer activities. Call or email for more information on this unique opportunity. 


Common Threads

The volunteers from Common Threads are looking for families to help organize the garden from now throughout the summer. Many hands are needed to keep it watered, weeded, and ready for the fall. If you have a green thumb and want to get a head start on hours for next year, please sign up to help. For reference, here is Assumption’s Garden Care Info. This is a document for volunteers, including COVID-19 safety protocols, as well as the signup genius form for volunteers to use to reserve slots. 


School Commission Discernment 

This time of year, we begin to fill vacancies for positions on the School Commission. Each term is three years and we will have three vacancies for the 2020-21 school year. The “discernment” for these positions will happen at our Zoom meeting on Wednesday, May 20th.  

The School Commission is the principal’s advisory board with regards to the school’s long-term planning. The subcommittees include: Facilities, Admissions and Retention, Finance, Parish Liaisons, and Strategic Planning. We are currently looking for parents who have expertise in building and construction, marketing, development/fundraising, and education (public or private). Being a member of the School Commission fulfills your 40-hour volunteer requirement for your family. The Commission meets on the third Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9 pm, and subcommittees meet 1-2 times per month at a pre-arranged time

PTC News  

Thank you to all those who participated in Spirit Week! What a fun week of seeing everyone’s creativity and smiles! Thank you also to our Student Ambassadors who came up with our themes and voted on the winners every evening! We love our Assumption Family and their School Spirit!  


We are looking for someone to chair Grandparents Day on November 20th next school year.  This is a beloved and longstanding ACS tradition that all our students look forward to!  Please email Jessica Sidhu at if you’re interested in further details.  


Gently Used Uniforms  

Please continue to submit your used uniforms in good condition when bringing other items to the school.   

We don’t know what the future holds as far as our BIG fundraisers for the next school year, so please support us in these little efforts that can truly add up if we all pitch in!   



Did you know you can scan your online receipts also? We are all cooking more at home and doing more grocery shopping, so please scan your receipts and help us earn those points! This is an easy way for our school to earn money without having to sell anything! Please support us in this program! The money all comes back to our school and the programs we provide.   2. Buy your Dennis Uniform SCRIP now for 2020/2021 school year!
  3. Don’t forget to use  It’s always open and most choices available instantaneously!
  4. Did you know you can use your Safeway gift card at Haggen?
  5. Stock up on Fred Meyer SCRIP now for this summer!  

Print the attached order form and mail to the school with your payment to have Scrip orders fulfilled remotely.  Those received by Monday, May 18th will be sent home with your child’s materials via the drive thru on Wednesday, the 20th.
