“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” Romans 12:6

 Did you know…?

The word Thanksgiving in Greek is Eucharistia: “to show favor for what is good; to be thankful or full of thanks and praise.” This is the word from which we get the English word Eucharist (the celebration at the Lord’s table). When we celebrate the Eucharist, or communion, we are literally expressing thanks or good favor to Christ for His sacrifice for our sins.

Free Dress this Wednesday, November 27th for reaching our goal of food collected for the Human Food Chain. Congratulations!

No EDP on Wednesday, November 27

Just a reminder we will not have EDP this Wednesday (Early Release Day) so our staff may also begin to enjoy the Thanksgiving break.  Thank you!

Calling all Volunteers! Need Volunteer Hours? We Need YOU!

The PTC Holiday Bazaar is being held December 1st. We need volunteers on November 30th to help set up tables! We also need many helpers at the Bazaar on December 1st to help run the Bake Sale and help take down at the end of the bazaar. We could really use some baked goodies for our bake sale on the 1st! Are you willing to make an extra pie or cookies to help us out? Now is your chance to get those hours in! ASSUMPTION 8TH GRADE CLASS FUNDRAISER AT THE FILLING STATION – TUESDAY DEC. 3, 2019:

To raise money for their DC Trip in May 2020, the 8th graders have partnered up with the Filling Station restaurants. The FILLING STATION will generously donate a portion of their sales at any location to the 8th grade class.

Please support the 8th grade class by eating at one of the FILLING STATION restaurants on Tuesday, December 3rd.  Have lunch there, pick up a snack right after school or bring your entirely family to one of the restaurants for dinner! Please tell your friends and feel free to share the attached flyer. Thanks for your support!

AUCTION DONATION DEADLINE

December 6th is our procurement deadline. Please fill out your procurement form and return to Angie King in the office (attached here if you need another copy or want to donate more than one item!).

* It was brought to our attention last week that the procurement letter that went home contained an incorrect date.  The correct dates are:

  • December 6th procurement forms are due into the office
  • January 24th is the due date for your physical item donation to be turned into the office

Again, we apologize for the date mix-up! Please email us at growinggreatkidsauction.com with any questions.

SECOND GRADE PAJAMA DRIVE

Our Second Grade class will begin a Pajama Drive starting after Thanksgiving, on Monday, December 2nd until Saturday, December 14th.  Scholastic Book Clubs will match each pair of NEW pajamas with a brand new book for kids in need. This will be part of a new service learning project (ACS students “demonstrating compassion through service” and “an active global citizen who works socially for the common good”) for grade 2 students. Their hope is to spread peace and bring joy to other children (Preschool – Grade 8) in need before the Christmas holiday.  Look for the Pajama Drive flyers around the school after Thanksgiving break. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Kushner: skushner@school.assumption.org. Thank you for your support!

Variety Show has changed dates this year to January 31st (not in May/June)

Participant registration is due by Wednesday, December 18th

Mark these dates in January for auditions and rehearsals!

Dear Assumption Families of talented children,

The time has come to start thinking about the Variety Show and planning our routines! Thank you, in advance, for helping us bring the kids together in this showcase of their accomplishments. Please mark the important dates below on your calendars.

This year’s performance will be held at the end of Catholic School’s Week, on Friday, January 31st. We will have both an afternoon and an evening performance, so that we can better accommodate the schedules of all families who want to come watch.

Entry forms for tryouts are in your Wednesday Parent Newsletter.

We ask that all interested students turn in their form for approval by Wednesday, December 18th.

We will meet after school, in the gym for tryouts on Wednesday and Thursday, January 8th and 9th.

There will be practice on January, 14th, 15th and 16th and again the following week on January, 21st, 22nd and 23rd after school, in the gym.

***It is important that you come to your first practice in your costume, or until you are checked off! All costumes must be approved by Mrs. Whelan. Once students costumes have been approved, they don’t need to wear them again until dress rehearsal.***

There will be a MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL on Thursday, January 30th, after school in the gym. It’s important that all our student performers be there for this. Running through the show, in costume, as a group makes a huge difference in how they feel about that final performance and bolsters their confidence.

We’re looking forward to another great show and we can’t wait to see what your amazing children will bring to this year’s talent show. Please email with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Jennifer Stiff and Anna Whelan

Assumption School Foundation Fundraising Update

New total: $49,455 as of 11/22/19, still at 36% participation from current families. Please make your contribution before December 13, 2019.

The goal this year is 100% participation from our families. There were 44 families that designated a donation to the Assumption School Foundation (“Support for a Century”) on the 2019-2020 registration form. If you were one of these and you haven’t paid already by check, you will see this listed on your December tuition statement.

If you didn’t designate an amount on the registration form in the spring and would like to donate, please fill out the remittance envelope included with the Annual Report and return it to the school by Friday, December 13th. You may also want to look on our Facebook page for ways to donate on #GivingTuesday (December 3rd) for matching donations or on the school’s website.

Archdiocese Mass and March for Life
