“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” Romans 12:6

Did you know…?

This year’s Peacemaker themes are based on nine fruits of the Spirit that Paul refers to in his letter to the Galatians, Chapter 5. But did you know that Catholic tradition follows the Vulgate version (4th century Latin translation of the Bible) for fruits of the Spirit which also includes: modesty, generosity, charity, and chastity? “The fruits of the Spirit are perfections that the Holy Spirit forms in us as the first fruits of eternal glory. The tradition of the Church lists twelve of them: ‘charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity’.” (CCC 1832)

CORRECTION!  When published, the video newsletter stated The Filling Station would support an 8th Grade Fundraiser on Tuesday, Nov. 5th.  That date has been moved.  We will share new info and a paper flyer when the new date is finalized.  Thanks!

Meal Train for the Strutz Family

Many of you have asked how you can be of help to the Strutz family during this difficult time.  Mrs. Bev Williams, our Care & Concern leader, has created a Meal Train to provide the family with some support.  This is a great way to lend a hand when the tasks of grocery shopping and meal prep are the last thing the family wants to think about.

If you aren’t able to cook a meal, the sign up also offers ways to contribute via online gift cards for food delivery.

As always, our school is so thankful to all of our families who come together when one of us is in need.  Please don’t hesitate to contact the office if you have any questions or concerns.

Pumpkin Carving Contest!

Carve a pumpkin at home and bring to school on Halloween for entry to win a spooktacular prize!  Please see the attached flyer for further details.

Grandparent/Grand-Friends Day Invitations

If you provided the office with mailing addresses for your grandparents/friends, they have been sent! All students were given the opportunity to personalize some invitations, so if your family did NOT provide an address, the extras came home in your physical envelope today.  Please feel free to deliver or mail them on your own. Thank you!

Scholastic Book Fair

This is a fun way to earn fundraising hours and raise money for our school! Volunteers needed to help during sales by running the cash register, assisting students and parents with finding books, and restocking displays. Volunteers also needed to help repack books and products after the book fair and assist with clean up. If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Smith at           Book Fair Sign Up

It’s that time of year to remind everyone to please slow down and be watchful in our parking lot and traffic loop.  We often have preschoolers coming in after 8:00 and being picked up at 11:30 when there are parents in and out for meetings, Playground Angel duty, and church activities.  We appreciate your care and attention to the safety of all students!

Family Movie Night on Friday, November 15th

Toy Story 4! See the attached flyer for details. Donations are appreciated and concessions will be available for sale.  Bring your sleeping bags and pillows to camp out on the gym floor and spend some time with your school community!  Please note that this is a family activity and children must be supervised by parents.  Thank you!

Please see the attached flyer for tournament results and gratitude for our many volunteers and sponsors!

8th Grade Class Poinsettia and Wreath Fundraiser

It’s that time of year again!  Our 8th Grade class is selling poinsettias and wreaths to help raise money for their upcoming retreats and events. Spread holiday cheer and help fill your family and friends’ homes and offices with beautiful poinsettias and wreaths!

Order forms are available on the school website.  Order deadline is Monday, November 4.  Poinsettias and wreaths will be delivered on Thursday, December 5th and Friday, December 6th from 7:45 am-8:15 am and 2:45 pm-3:15 pm in front of the school gym. Please email Dave Petchick with any questions:  Your support is greatly appreciated!

Sponsorship Opportunities at the GGK Auction  The Growing Great Kids Auction and Gala will be here before we know it and we have lots of great opportunities for businesses to sponsor this fabulous event (and largest fundraiser for the school). Our event attracts over 230 parents, parishioners, business owners, and community members from in and around Whatcom County. If you have or know a business who might benefit from engagement with our community, please fill out the sponsorship form here:  and return it to the school office.

You will also find a hard copy of the form in this week’s physical newsletter along with details about package options. Feel free to share this information with any generous local businesses you love. You’ll see we have sponsorship packages available to suit any budget. As an added bonus, sponsoring at any level fulfills your family’s donation obligation! If you have any questions, please contact our Sponsorship Chair, Stephanie Wolf at

Volunteer at Assumption’s School Garden Work Party!

Come support Assumption’s school garden education program by attending our winterization work party! We will be meeting on Saturday, November 2nd from 1-4 pm in the school garden to the right of the parking lot. We’ll be weeding, sheet mulching beds to protect them over winter, repairing wooden raised beds, and constructing a new compost bin. All are welcome to attend, and if you have construction skills or tools you would be willing to lend for the day, we’d be especially grateful for your support! If you are interested in volunteering, please RSVP to Caroline Boschetto, Assumption’s Common Threads Food Educator: We hope to see you there!
