All are Invited to Eighth Grade Graduation 

We encourage ALL Assumption families to attend the graduation on Wednesday, June 5th at 6 pm. Students who tell their teachers they are going graduation will receive a NO HOMEWORK PASS for that evening. This night is a culmination of many years of hard work and since we don’t celebrate it during the day as a school, we want the chance for all Preschool- 7th grade families to participate in this celebration. Please mark your calendars to attend this wonderful rite of passage next Wednesday. 

2019-2020 Paperwork Packet – DUE June 14th! 

All the paperwork needed to start next year is in your parent envelope today. Please note that some forms are per student. The office compiles this information over the summer to be able to start the year updated and correct! Please fill it out and return before June 14th… sooner is even better!  

Potential Change for School Bus 

We are considering changing the afternoon bus service from a 3:15 departure to a 4:30 pm departure in order to serve more families in co-curriculars and other activities. Audio/Visual Installation- Volunteers Needed 

Great news… The equipment has been ordered and the installation of the new A/V equipment in the gym will happen between Monday, June 24th through Thursday, June 27th. Thank you to parents- Mike Harbick and Andrew Cramer, for making this happen. If you still need volunteer hours and you have expertise in the trades (electrical, construction, etc.) or you know someone who does, we need you! Here are the jobs we are looking to complete. Please commit to at least two of the four full days so that we know we can count on you. Thank you, in advance, for your help! Email Mr. Anderson or Mike Harbick at mike@vmioffroad.com to let us know what you can do. 

Jobs/expertise needed:  

  1. Install three electrical boxes for the system, projector, and screen.
  2. Hang the screen
  3. Mount the projector to the beam on the ceiling of the gym

Library Book Return 

It is time to start rounding up any books checked out from the school library. I will be sending home a list of all books currently checked out to your child(ren) in today’s parent envelope. All items are due back by Friday, May 31st. If there are any items not returned by the end of the school year, you will be billed a replacement fee. Volunteer Appreciation Tea and Volunteer of the Year on Friday, June 7th 

This award will be presented on June 7th at the reception beginning at 12:30 pm. Mark that date on the calendar for recognition of ALL volunteers this year. You are invited to bring a sack lunch and eat with the children at 11:30 am, followed by the Volunteer Tea at 12:30 pm (hosted with desserts from the teachers!). Stay for the Variety Show beginning at 1 pm that same day. We hope to see everyone there. 

Summer- Jesus Day Camp NEWS! 

Great news!  Assumption School Bus will be available to transport children (potty trained up to 5th grade) to this summer’s Jesus Day Camp, at Saint Joseph’s in Ferndale.  This is an amazing week of fun filled games, stories, songs, all around our awesome faith!  Sign up is in the gathering space at the church or online for the camp but if you would like to sign your child up for the bus please sign up below so we can plan accordingly.  The bus will be running through the county (stops designated below) as well as picking up at Assumption School.  This is a free opportunity for our community and a lot of fun!

WALK/RUN FOR LIFE – 2019 

Did you see the movie Unplanned?  The Whatcom County Pregnancy Clinic offers alternatives to abortion, the main business of Planned Parenthood.  The Walk/Run for Life supports the WCPC.  Please join us on Saturday, June 1, at 8:30am.  Meet at Abundant Life Church, 3210 Meridian St.  Walk or Run and raise pledges or sponsor someone who is Walking/Running for Life.  Contact Kathy & Joe St. Hilaire, 360-671-4836, Doddie at the Clinic, 360-671-9057, or sign up on line at:  www.walkwcpc.com. 

Rummage Sale

Boy Scouts rummage sale is June 1st.  We are accepting donations of books, furniture, household items, bikes, clothes, etc. on Friday, May 31st.  If you need help or an earlier pickup, please let us know (threefan@aol.com or (360) 384-0747).  THANK YOU!

Bellingham Public Library Summer Reading Bingo Cards 

The Summer Reading Program starts June 1st and your Bingo cards are in your Wednesday Parent Envelope for PS/PK (purple) and grades K-5 (green). Middle school (blue) cards will come next week! Public Library Summer Reading Site 

PTC News 

Thinking about how you can get those Volunteer Hours for the 2019/2020 school year?  

  1. We are looking for someone to take over the Monday Pizza Lunch Duty. This entails picking up the pizza from Little Caesar’s and delivering to the classrooms one Monday a month. (Please talk with Angie King) 
  2. New Box Top for Education Coordinator needed. This is a great job for someone with little ones at home!  
  3. Anyone interested in taking over the Lost and Found bins?

SCRIP PURCHASING DEADLINE FOR 2018-19: This Friday, May 31st is the last day to purchase Scrip that will apply to the current school year.  Purchases made after this date will count toward your 2019-20 school year commitment.  Complete your purchases in the Scrip office (M-W-F 7:45 – 8:15, T-Th 2:45 – 3:15), or anytime in the school office or via shopwithscrip.com.  This program generates about $25,000 for our school, so thank you for your support!  

 SCRIP ONLINE INCENTIVE: Purchase Scrip online anytime in May and have your name entered in a drawing to win a $25 card of your choice (from the ACS box or online).  A winner will be announced on Wednesday, June 5th.

Upcoming Calendar Items: 

May 30th/31st– Eight Grade Retreat off-site 

June 5th – Graduation rehearsal 10 am; Eighth Grade Luncheon 11:30 am; Graduation Mass, 6:00 pm. All are invited to the Graduation Mass! 

June 7th– Volunteer of the Year recognized today; 11:30 Volunteers may bring a sack lunch and eat with students; Volunteer Appreciation Tea at 12:30 pm. Variety Show (1:00 pm to 3 pm- time has changed).

June 13th– Peace Festival from 12:30 to 3 pm. All grades K-7 participate in team-building games. Parents are invited to watch and help supervise the games. 

June 13th – Retirement Lunch for Mrs. Vanderboom in the gym from 11:30-1:00pm 

June 23rd – Auction item availability! – The Upfront Theatre Opportunity! See the flyer here! 

June 24th– 27th– Installation of the A/V equipment in the gym. Volunteers needed. 

June 28th– Farewell Party for Fr. Scott beginning at 7 pm
