Youth Ministry in the County
For those in town, you may know about the EDGE program that meets every Sunday from 2 to 3:30 pm at Sacred Heart Parish for all sixth through eighth graders. But did you also know that middle school youth programs exist in other parishes throughout the county? HOLY HOOPS NEEDS YOU! Volunteer Opportunities
The teams are set and ready to play! Holy Hoops starts on Tuesday, October 23rd! Come cheer on your 5th – 8th grade school friends as they compete in this fun-filled, four day, 4×4 basketball tournament. The tournament will run daily in the Assumption Gym from Tuesday through Friday, 3-6 pm. The full event schedule is outlined below and all parents, students, and community members are welcome and encouraged to stop by the gym during these times to help make this event a wild success! Grandparents Day is November 16th!
Please invite Grandparents or Grand-Friends to come join us on the morning of November 16th. The reception will start promptly at 9:30am with a prayer, a few songs by our 1st graders and coffee and pastries. For all our new families, this is a wonderful opportunity for your students to show grandparents around their school! The reception and classroom show and tell is followed by Mass and all Grandparents are invited to attend.

Middle School Winter Sports Survey
All Middle School parents… please return the Winter Sports survey that was in last week’s Parent Envelope. This survey helps me prepare for the trip planning to Mt. Baker and the Sportsplex in January. We need your information in order to put together packets with permission slips and registration forms. “Growing Great Kids”
Mark your calendars for the Growing Great Kids Auction and Gala on March 2, 2019! Our school’s largest fundraiser is a fabulous time with our wonderful school parents, staff, and invited friends in an elegant and fun night out.
Each Assumption family is responsible for procuring or donating an item, goods or service worth $200. Have fun with this! Do you have a vacation house that would make a great get away? Do you have season tickets to sporting events? Do you have a talent that would go toward a great donation? We have many ideas and specific needs for our event this year, so if you need a little inspiration don’t hesitate to contact the auction chairs, or check our list of ideas on the school website Auction page. Please also consider soliciting a donation from your favorite business–many companies love giving back and are willing to donate if you ask.
Each family must complete a procurement form no later than Friday, November 30. A hardcopy form was in the Wednesday envelope last week or you can grab one from the office. Or alternatively this year, you can fill out an electronic form found on the website on the Donate an Auction Item page! Please contact the Auction Chairs Shanae and Courtney.
*8TH GRADE CLASS POINSETTIA AND WREATH FUNDRAISER
It’s that time of year again… the 8th grade class is selling poinsettias and wreaths to help raise money for their upcoming retreats and events. We have a big 8th grade class this year – let’s reach out to our friends, co-workers, local businesses and help them fill their home /office with beautiful poinsettias and wreaths. An order form will be in this week’s Wednesday envelope or you can email Sonia Hayes at Sonia@tctradingcompany.com to place an order. Order deadline is Friday, November 9th. Poinsettias and wreaths will be delivered on Thursday, November 29th and Friday, November 30th from 7:45 am-8:15 am and 2:45 pm-3:15 pm in front of the school gym. Box Tops Competition Begins!
The “Box Tops All School Challenge” begins today and ends on October 26th at 3:00 pm. Our goal for this challenge is 2,000 Box Tops (2,000 X $0.10 = $200.00!) and $1,000 for the year! Here’s how this first competition will work:
For every 10 Box Tops turned in per student/family (your choice but each family will get 1 bag per student), you will be entered in to a raffle for $25.00 worth of the SCRIP of your choice! Please submit BT in the enclosed bag (write your name on the label) and return them in the Wednesday Parent Envelope or into the office. Expired BT will not be counted as we cannot submit them. Please refer to the blue list of qualifying items that was sent home last week or online. Remember that not all products are food! (Costco multi pack Kleenex had 15 Box Tops!!!) Ask neighbors, friends, relatives and co-workers to help us meet our goal. Ready, set, snip!
Scholastic Book Fair: November 14th – 20th
This is a fun way to earn fundraising hours and raise money for our school! Volunteers needed to help during sales by running the cash register, assisting students and parents with finding books, and restocking displays. Volunteers also needed to help repack books and products after the book fair and assist with clean up. Sign up HERE! Please remember that only uniform sweatshirts and hoodies should be worn during the school day. We made this announcement last year to ensure that students are in uniform both in the classroom and outside on the playground. Winter coats and jackets are still permitted.
School Bus Changes
We will be adding two morning stops to the bus route beginning on Monday, Oct. 22nd. This will not change the current times for all of the other stops but will provide for families who live in Everson and Lynden. Please open the attached document to see the times for pick up and the locations. If you have any questions, please email the office. We need all students who will ride the bus to be registered and to fill out the bus guidelines form before riding. See the document for bus stops and the bus guidelines forms attached to this week’s envelope.

CS First Computer Science for Girls in grades 4-8

- Parent volunteers to help with the CS First Computer Science Club every Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:15 beginning on November 7th.
- Technology Committee- Thank you to Ashley Vincent and Dan Smith who will be continuing in this committee. We are looking for 2-3 more parents with a software and/or educational technology background willing to help us form our technology plan for the next 3-5 years. Meetings will be monthly at 7 am (day to be determined by the group) and we are asking for a two-year commitment. If you are interested, please email Fatima Peralta at email@example.com.
